I would like to know how to get someone from MAc to do my makeup. That would be fabulous.

That's easy you can go into any MAC store and hire an artist....they set rates with you...check out the MAC store in Roosevelt Field, try to go during the week, the weekend is crazy...good luck

You might be better off going into a braid shop and speaking with a braider there...they maybe able to work from your home or theirs

Thanks..I am going after work.. to check out what they can do for me. I figured 5AM, will be enough time. If there are 2 people doing my hair. I am will to give each person 50.00 dollars. Do you think that is enough?

That is not including there tip. I just don't want to fuss with my hair, when I am away having fun.

Thanks!!!

No that may not be enough most braid shops charge at least $125 for microbraids and at that time of the morning and 2 braiders it may $150 but you can try and negotiate whatever they offer....tip Harlem is the best place for lower prices, but there is no shop on 125th street open that early....good luck

there are a couple of places located on 3rd ave & 149th St in the Bronx. I think they open at 7. I do not know of any braiding salons that open up at 5 a.m. Sorry.

Ladies..thank you for all your help, but due to my early departing flight...I am so out of luck. I guess, I will just have to deal with it..whenever I get there.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Spitzer, I'm unsure where your HM is but if is on an island you are in luck, they braid hair there and cheap right on the beach or in your room, if you're staying at a resort most have beauty shops that cater to us...last year while in Ocho Rios at the Jamaica Grande I got a weave done, loved it! I was so happy good luck.

Can anyone recommend a good pantyhouse with a nice selection of shades?

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

How are you guys wearing your veil- in the front like a waterfall or to the back? Are you wearing it all night?

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Not too sure on the pantyhose since I discovered thigh high's...as for the veil undecided, but most likely traditional and its coming off only keeping my tiara on all night I'llbe sleeping in it and wearing it on the plane when we fly out for our HM the next day!

This will be my first time using them. I hope they do not fall down while I am walking down the aisle. That would be too funny!!! good thing my dress is a Cinderella ball gown.

HAIR UPDATE

I almost forgot...I went to Imaacula Hair Salon in W Hempstead boy are they pricey I almost fell off the chair but I kept my composure her is the deal....$325 for a weave (hair not included), $70 to style it the day of your wedding, and $50 to open their shop early for you but they serve breakfast and such....if they come out to your home or hotel its an extra $125....I am undecided...I like the shop and ambience location is good free parking, residential area about 15-20 min from me and do have a full service salon if you want it...best of all they have lots of pictures of brides before and after with all types of updo's, very very pretty...what do you think I should do....I'm due back in like 2 weeks for final consultation and deposit. Advise, please....thanks

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

Thanks for the info!!! I will definitely check them out. I've loved running track when I was growing up , but there was a price to pay. Yes. big thighs. Big thighs can be sexy, but difficult when it comes to purchasing pants and pantyhose.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES

I had to comment on this one - I read on MSN the 'Cosby comments' & i have to say - I TOTALLY agree with him.

I all to often hear young adults have NO idea to how to speak, let alone a compete sentence. No all, but a good portion of them.

I like rap, but the rap that is degrading is what the youth seem to gravitate towards & this leads to the crop of prison-pants-off-butt youth we see today.

My FH & I tease that when the youth look back & ask 'what is yr favorite love song ?- iso something ie isleys, or Luther - they may say 99 questions by 50

All too often we ignore the truism in
' Knowledge is Power'

Everybody seem to give Cosby flak - But i think he hit the nail right on the head & many just dont like it when the TRUTH is told.

Yr thought ladies????
