Not being a racist....but where are the hairstylists and make-up artists that cater to Black women? Did anyone on these boards have any luck as of yet or nformation?
I had to comment on this one - I read on MSN the 'Cosby comments' & i have to say - I TOTALLY agree with him.
I all to often hear young adults have NO idea to how to speak, let alone a compete sentence. No all, but a good portion of them.
I like rap, but the rap that is degrading is what the youth seem to gravitate towards & this leads to the crop of prison-pants-off-butt youth we see today.
My FH & I tease that when the youth look back & ask 'what is yr favorite love song ?- iso something ie isleys, or Luther - they may say 99 questions by 50
All too often we ignore the truism in ' Knowledge is Power'
Everybody seem to give Cosby flak - But i think he hit the nail right on the head & many just dont like it when the TRUTH is told.
Yr thought ladies????
I agree. People are giving him flak because they don't want to hear the truth.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
That is extremely price!!!. $325 hair not included. $50 to open up early and $125 to come to the bride's location. That is a lot. I think I'm going to get my hair done the Friday before the wedding. I would hate to wake up early on Sat to go to the hair salon, even though my beautician said she does not mind. (there's no extra cost) Char look around some more!!!

I think 325 is a lot. Is it just a sewn weave? or one of the new bonding techniques? If it's the latter then that's an awesome price.
Sorry I can't suggest anyone bc I live in Chicago. I have girl here who does it for $100 bucks, I have been going to her for the last 4 months. She's doing it for me before I leave for NY and I'll just get it styled at the salon I used to go to in high school.
Sorry i'm no help

HAIR UPDATE
I almost forgot...I went to Imaacula Hair Salon in W Hempstead boy are they pricey I almost fell off the chair but I kept my composure her is the deal....$325 for a weave (hair not included), $70 to style it the day of your wedding, and $50 to open their shop early for you but they serve breakfast and such....if they come out to your home or hotel its an extra $125....I am undecided...I like the shop and ambience location is good free parking, residential area about 15-20 min from me and do have a full service salon if you want it...best of all they have lots of pictures of brides before and after with all types of updo's, very very pretty...what do you think I should do....I'm due back in like 2 weeks for final consultation and deposit. Advise, please....thanks
Charlotte.............keep shopping...around.....
You will end up paying $325.00--for weave....NO HAIR INCLUDED.....+ $70.00 dollars to style it. $400.00 --$50.00 dollars to open the shop early..no now we are talking about $450.00. (plus if you want her to come to your house $575.00
Ok--so now you've decided to go to the shop: What are we on now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about her tip ie...$30.00-$50.00. So, now we are over $600.00. You still don't even have the hair yet. I think, this salon is taking advantage.... Plus, not to mention, you want a good quality human hair weft. You will defintely spend over $100.00 dollars for it.
Keep shopping around, you still have time. Good Luck!!!!

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
Thanks I am truly disgusted but I am tired of shoping around also....Signature Salon of Westbury is 5 min from me and they're talking the same prices the only difference between Signatur and Immacula is that signature's is way to snotty with their customers....
UPDATE I left a deposit with Immacula already and hell no I am not tipping her and have no problem teling her why also I would not return for another weave there after my wedding and yes I have to order my hair so that is going to run me another $200. I will be so glad when 8-21 is here I don't know what to do the salons lose in the end by jacking their prices up they lose long term potential customers...I already found another shop in my area they do a wash, conditoiner and wrap for $13, that's ok for general maint but I def would not trust them for my wedding so for now I'll have to kick out the $$$...thank the Lord I get expense checks from my job so I'm not using my paycheck LOL!
Thanks ladies for your advice, I'm thinking I could wrap my own hair at this point put my tiara and veil on a nd call it a day! Not!

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
What? My hairstylist dows weaves, nice ones, for $100-150 and doesn't charge extra for weddings. I am so glad I have her. I am not getting a weave for my wedding (my hair is about shoulder length now) but I sometimes get them and she does a better job than most celebrity stylists.

SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SOME REFERENCES I WOULD GREATLY APPERCIATE IT AND I AM LOOKING DJ AND MC.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
The t-shirt has a picture of a bride & groom on it? I thought it would just say something like 'I posted 1000 opinions on LIW and I received this shirt.' Or ' I'm a member of LIW with 1000 post.'

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
here is the response from LIW:
Actually we have made many changes. As you spoke of we changed the logo to be more universal. The shirt you received is one of the older shirts. The new ones are being printed and will be here the first week of August (just new logo no photo). And to let you in on a secret we have developed a new site for African American brides. It is still under development but if you want to take a peek it's here http://www.ebonybridalplanner.com/. So, as you can see we are sensitive to the feelings of all and respond when we are able to do so!
