We are down to the wire. We have a couple of minor things to take care of, but I am handling it. Photographer is bringing the engagement pics by so we can see them. I am truly going to cry on my wedding day!! but tears of happiness.

AFRICAN AMERICAN BRIDES - which hall has the best food?
This is my first post although I have been lurking and sending forum mail since July.
Thanks to all of you who have responded to my FM.
We are finally ready to go look at halls and it occured to me that I do not know of any African American brides who used the hall I like the most.
So, my question is which catering hall has the best food from the African American perspective? I am not looking for specific quisine like the best roti or fabulous collard greens but great food in general.
All of your input is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
We had our reception Larkfield Manor and the food was fabulous. There was so much of it and guests liked the 6 different entree options. My young cousins loved the fact that they offered seconds! Whenever we talk to guests since the wedding, they tell us the food was the best they ever had at a wedding.
My family is Haitian and most of them only want to eat rice/beans, etc.... They just didn't understand why I didn't just rent a room and go with a Haitian caterer. My thing is you eat the same things every day...live a little and try something different. In the end, they all loved the food.

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
lol you know my answer lol. We had a difficult task. We had a mix of our caribbean and American guests. Meaning we had West indian, Irish, chinese, italian and I beleive Indian guests. Coral house was good at following my directions as to how i wanted the food to taste. I was relieved to hear that they take certain special requests.
On the day of the wedding my mom & dad were the eyes and ears. They said that people ate ALOT and even some of my 'haters' had to admit that the food was good...that was the best part actually..having someone who was hoping for everything to go wrong to say that the food was good

Re: AFRICAN-AMERICAN BRIDES
I am truly glad someone posed this question (even though I now realize it was posted at the beginning of the year)!! If anyone's on the island, try house of essence in Amityville. I just found Taischa and I am beyond thrilled with her!! FM me if you want information.
I'm going to check out the ebony board. Cool. I went to the Mac counter today and they said that the make-up artists do freelance work and that I would have to arrange it with one of them. Can anyone suggest people that I should use and which Mac store to call?

Hey,
Can you sign into the Ebony Bride website with the same username and password that you use on this site? I tried but it won't let me. I tried to register uing the same name and I got an error message saying that I my username is already being used. I got the same message about my email address. So did you ladies just use a new name?
