After all my whining, I finally booked my wedding!!

Well, we went tonight and I brought my parents and FH brought his mom and although it was slightly chaotic since the two mothers who said they weren't going to say a word were talking the entire time, I booked my wedding!! Thanks to all the research I did and all the info I got from you wonderful women, everyone was very impressed with how thorough I was and the banquet manager was very patient with me and my two pages of single-spaced notes that I went through.

FH and I will be getting married on October 10, 2004 at the Woodbury Country Club. Now poor FH can catch a break since I won't be hounding him to just book a f*cking place already. The rest of it, well, I'll give him a week's peace before I start bugging him about it.

Thanks for all of you who put up with my incessant whining about this. I promise I'll try not to be such a brat about everything else.

Jann, I know what you mean. My daughter was feeling that way too. Next question - is anyone using the UPSTAIRS room? Everyone seems to be downstairs but for some reason she chose not to do it there.
I also would be very interested in what Vinnie told you vs. what Michael told you. She is working with Vinnie. Please FM me if you are uncomfortable being specific. I'm just curious how two banquet managers would vary.

Jann Congratulations! One more thing off your list. I am sure you made a great choice. I am not familiar with your hall but have heard good things about it and Woodbury is a beautiful area. I will be down the road from you on the same date at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Again Congrats!

LIMom...nothing to worry about! I just know that when I spoke with Michael, I had specific requests and questions and he said that they couldn't change or add to the contract, but that there would be no problem, i.e., we specifically requested Dewars as part of the liquor (which is cheaper than what they offer), and he said no problem, but I'm just afraid that I'll talk to Vinny and he'll say something different. You know what I mean? I suppose I'm just being paranoid since I have never heard of anyone having problems with them, but I did spend more time with Michael than Vinny. We met with him when we just went to take a look and get a quote, but Michael spent quite a lot of time answering my questions (and thanks to this site, I had him answering questions for well over an hour).

As for the rooms...I think the Garden Suite offers a better view and I think you get more grounds with that room. It seems the 'side' reserved for the upstairs room is very tiny, whereas the Garden Suite gets the garden and the pool and the whole area.

Thanks, Jess. I grew up in the area, so it's nice to be familiar with it since I haven't lived in Nassau County in 8 years! Crest Hollow is lovely and I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding! Great day to get married!

Thanks for explaining, Jann. I do appreciate it. I have concerns and questions and would rather not ask my daughter and cause her addtional stress. You girls are all great!

I think Jess said it perfectly. A lot of people just don't know about it. Fox Hollow and Crest Hollow have the notoriety, and not everyone knows WCC is even there. Maybe bec. it's set back and easy to miss while driving up Jericho, I don't know. I'm finding that those who have attended affairs there have only the best to say about it.

One last question please. (Sorry to be a nuisance.) I know where the room for the cocktail hour is, and I saw the upstairs room. Where is the lower room for your dinner and reception?

It's downstairs, below the lobby level. It's on the same level as the grounds. Actually, the benefit of having the upstairs room is that you get the room for the cocktail hour, whereas with the Garden Suite, the cocktail hour is outside, rain or shine.

I do love having a less often picked reception site. Makes me feel slightly unique.

Oh, and you're not a nuisance. That's what I love about these boards. No matter how insignificant you think a question is, someone will always answer it and someone will always be able to use the information in the future.

You are so sweet. The outdoor cocktail hour is going to be magnificent. Good for you.

I just worry that as a Mom I may be intruding. After all it is Brides H B. Although no one has ever made me feel that way, I figure no one needs another mother looking over her shoulder, no matter how much you love your own.

My daughter's words exactly! She was never one to be like all the others.

Yeah well, FH kept telling me that he couldn't make his phone calls without a date and reception hall, so now he's got no excuse. It's not like I'm asking for a lot from him - just the PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY! If he didn't have a connection in the first place, I'd be handling it all myself, but since it's his connection, it's his job.

Ack...now I've got something to whine about again. Bad, bad, bad!
