After Wedding Depression...

I read an article yesterday that some women go into depression stages after their wedding. You know what....I swear that will be me!!!!!!

I am gonna need a new hobby!!! I told FH and he said he will be my new hobby!!!!!!!!!!
HE JUST DOESN'T UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!

I actually found it a relief not to be planning anymore!! Towards the end I was getting so sick of all the wedding talk that it's nice to engage in regular conversation now. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved my entire wedding but I don't miss the before part of it.

I have to say that I for one am relieved not to be planning anymore - Although when I was planning it, it didn't take over my life, I didn't feel there was that much to actually do once the vendors are booked. I'm just glad that I don't have to 'think' about it anymore!

I know this will happen to me too, so I am trying to cultivate other interests that will occupy me after the wedding.

I also plan on being a newlywed expert of sorts.....we can help all the new brides to be that come on the site!

Oprah did a story on it - i saw it before i got engaed and it made me think a lot about what i wanted - did i want to be engaged and having the big wedding or d i want to get married to spend my life with my fi -

after seeing i had to take a step back to make sure i was not getting confised because i had lots of friends getting married and me and fi had been dating a long time at that point.

But now that i am engaged, i try not to thin about the wedding but what i want life to be after - me and fi have not lived in the same state in 3 years so there is a lot planning that needs to be done when we move in together

so i think if you think ahead a lot tote marriage it helps you deal better is what oprah said and there is a book called the conscious bride that is worth a read

Depression after a wedding...NOT ME!!! I did NOT enjoy planning a wedding, we were broke and every dime went into our wedding..now I can buy clothes again..I can go out for lunches with girlfriends and not feel guilty about spending the money! We can go on vacations again...RELIEF is what I expereineced after our wedding!!!!! YIPEEEEEEEE I love being married and I HATED wedding planning!

I also can't wait for it to be over... but I understand how someone can be depressed... you go through months of being so busy and then after the wedding... nothing else to plan... but I can't wait for it!

It's the best right after the wedding is over. The days and weeks following and even the first year has been unreal. You are going to love other things.... saying the word husband, having nights and weekends to yourself again, not have to fight and obsess about all the details. OMG, It's the best!!!!! You will be so consumed with other things... video, album, pictures, memories, working on a house... etc...

This actually sounds like a lot of fun! IMAGINE - not having to justify every little thing you buy! Vacations! Movies! Clothes! Make-up! Concerts! Going out to dinner for no reason at all! I cant wait!

I'm afraid of that too... I've been planning this thing since way before we ever got engaged! I'm hoping we will move into a house soon before the wedding, and since I'll be pretty busy, the house will be a good project to have in place of all the planning.

It happens. A friend of mine got married, bought a house, decorated, got pregnant and had a baby, then when the baby was about 1 yr, she got depressed. I can see how it happens...You have all these things to plan, projects, and it then STOPS and bingo....eeek.

I thought I would be like that but my regular pre-wedding planning life returned and it was a relief to not have to worry about savings, appointments, etc.

We also had a two week HM, got proofs and worked on thank yous which brought us right into the holiday season so it was 4 months before we even had time to stop anyways.

Plus you come here and you can still chat about weddings

Conscious Bride by Sheryl Paul (or now I think it's Nissenbaum or something) is a great resource...there's two books by her, I have the Conscious Bride Handbook or Workbook and sometimes when I get stressed it's a good thing to read to help me take a step back and remember that it's not about the wedding it's about the marriage. I think it will also help me keep a positive perspective after the wedding is over.
