AHH! Dress Disaster!
I totally screwed up. I have been so on top of everything, but I let my dress slip through the cracks.
I bought my dress and it ft me perfectly at size 8. Truly gorgeous-- Michelle Roth Maci with amazing details, silver embroidery, swarovski crystals, super sparkly, etc. It fit me perfectly then at size 8. Well, I've been losing weight and am now a 6. I had been told it wouldn't be hard to alter. I was referred to a local seamstress who owned a wedding shop back in her country and and she was going to alter it. She wasn't able to meet me till today, but I was told timing was no problem since she would devote herself to my dress.
Soo, she came to look at it today and thought it was phenomenal and did all the measurements and was going to make the hips a little more mermaidy, so I was happy. Then I took off the dress and she inspected the inside and told me it was too much work--she couldnt do it and didn't even give me an estimate-- she said it'd be easier to make a new dress! I know she really needs the work, so I was shocked. She said that she'd have to reconstruct the whole dress and handstitch all the detail back on.
I am shell shocked. I have 23 days and nowhere can take on alterations now cause it's prom season and there's just not enough time.
Okay, a few weeks ago, I looked at Burtons for flowers and out of curiosity looked at dresses. I did try on Demetrios 9668-- and fell in love, It was a mermaid and I was so tempted, but I already had a beautiful, more expensive designer dress. I just called Burtons and they'd be willing to sell me the sample. They would need to take it in a bit, but Carole promised me they could get it done in time as that dress is very easy to work with and it has a detachable train, so no bustle and I don't need the hem done. So, I'm going in on Sat to see Burtons seamstress and see the dress to see if I still love it-- cross your fingers for me!
Also, if anyone is a street size 8 I now have to sell the below brand new pristine silk dress in order to afford the new dress. Unless, any of you know a seamstress that can work fast in 3 weeks!
Thanks for listening-- I feel crazy and can't believe I wasn't more on top of this when I've been so detailed about everything else, but I truly believed the referred seamstress could do it.
