ok for those that saw my long a** post yesterday about seeing apartments you know a little bit more background, although im sure many didn't read it

anyways, one of the duplex apartments we saw yesterday, fh and i are strongly considering it. I called today and made a 2nd appointment to go see it today at 5:30pm bc i wanted to go back with my dad. The reason i want my dad there is because i would want to do some work to the apartment and want to get his opinion first about the type of work i would need to do and estimate range of what it will cost me. My dad gets apartments and fixes them all up and has sold them and has his team of guys who does this so thats why. But of course we cant just go with my dad lol bc others want to see it too so my mother and his mom are going to see it.

Once we go today and my dad tells us what he thinks it will probably help us alot. The thing about this duplex is that its at an insanely great price. Its an old lady who lives there for 40 years and is moving out of state to be with her daughter and grandchildren. So not somebody looking to make alot of money, and she bought it at a price from 40 years ago so imagine how low it probably was plus she wont be buying a new place or even renting. We dont want to miss a great opportunity

I am nervous bc i just think about what everyones opinions will be, and dont know why im nervous about what they'll say

ok so we went today with my mom, his mom, FBIL...my dad couldn't come bc of something very important so it was understandable. It was ok though. Our moms and FBIL liked it alot, both said its a great deal and good space and were very enthusiastic about it. One reason i wanted to get an idea of renovation costs bc there is another duplex right by this one that is a little bit more but not by much at all, the thing about the other one is that its more updated, doesnt look like it would need much work done, seems like renovations were done not long ago. So i want to compare the two. I called agent and was honest and told him there is one we would like to see, but we are interested in this apartment and after we see the other apartment we will be able to decide. Also in the meantime another agent said he wants to show us a few things. So we're going to look at a few other places just to check it out, i mean we've only been looking for 2 weeks, well went last week and saw 1 place, and then sunday saw 5 places lol. The agent for the one we saw today will call me back to see the other apartment hopefully this weekend. We are definitely really considering this one, and part of me thinks we're going to go with this one and would make an offer. He asked if we expected a closing before the wedding bc he says he thinks it would be in june the closing and if that would be a problem. I told him PERFECT and i'd prefer it so not a problem. I dont want to go through a closing and all that with a few short weeks until the wedding or my luck the week of.

But i am glad they liked it, and they all said it would be perfect for us

thank you , theres a small chance i might not be able to make it so i told fh he has to go with my parents and his mom and he kept going on about how i have been working late and covering alot so i can ask to leave at my regular time tonight but now i realize its bc he doesnt want to be the one alone with all of them and hearing all the opinions hahahaha.

But i am going to do my all to get there, if im a few mins late its ok

Just remember, everyone has an opinion. When it comes down to making an actual decision, you and your FH have to make it based on YOUR opinions, not anyone elses. You may take their opinions into consideration but don't let that sway you from making the decision that is right for you. This is the first important decision (other than the wedding) that you and FH are making TOGETHER. My parents, especially my Dad, have tons of opinions on where we should buy, what we should buy etc. I've learned to take it into consideration knowing that the final decision will be made by FH and I!

i think they would try to be nice about it if anything like i know FMIL would find all the positives about the place and focus on that and try to sway anybody else on a positive direction hahaha so thats good.

That's totally key to have a positive person in the bunch. It's great that FMIL is positive....

well luckily none of them are like that, well my dad is hahaha but when it comes to apartments he can see the good side when others cant so only in the situation it'll be ok lol. My mom would keep her mouth shut if she didnt like it and knew i did but id see it in her face. I dont know why im nervous if theyre not the type to be very negative and nasty about it hahaha...maybe its not the mean things but just for them to like it as much i guess

so very true. Fh is worried that with the price it will sell fast and he doesnt want to sit on it if we decide on this one. But you know what, whats meant to be will happen.

i know so true, i asked FH if he was nervous and he was like yeah 'this might be the first place we purchase, it will be our FIRST place' its funny bc i realized yesterday while we were driving to look at the place that it was the anniversary of the day we met, i was like WOW who would've thought that night in the club we'd be here now

aww i know how you feel. im sure everything will work in your favor. FH and I looked at a house we both loved a few months ago and we took his family to see it, so i understand your feelings right now. we were both really anxious to hear what they had to say. it turns out - they hated it! omg. FH was crushed. that ****** big b*lls. but oh wells. we ended up not getting it, not bc of their opinion, for other reasons, but it would have been nice if they had felt the same way as us. either way ,you'll do whatever is best for you guys. good luck!

Yeah the major renovation would basically be the kitchen. Other than its very small things, mostly painting and cleaning and thats it. Other things that i would want done would not be necessary things lol like i would like a long stand up shower instead of a tub bc im so used to them now hahaha but that can be discussed later

I just want to tell you that my parents really tried to discourage the purchase of the house FH & I bought. It was a great price in a great area, but needed alot of work..At the end of the day we followed our instincts and after doing 1/3 of the work already the house looks great!! My parents are like I can't believe how much you did already ! In addition my property value is very high :)

very true and fh and i did talk and said its what we think that matters, them liking it would be nice hahaha but thats life. Yeah it really does help alot bc otherwise it can become a pain and would cost us more.

good for you for going with your instinct and showing them what you can do. Yeah thats one positive thing is that they wont see a place and think 'oh it needs too much work forget it, its more like ok well here is what we can do to make it better' when i saw my current apartment i was like UGH, it was a mess, well not horrible but needed quite some work done. Now its amazing looking at it to see what they did.

That's awesome that they loved it. You must have so many emotions...excitement, anxious, etc.
I hope it works out...i think you are doing the right thing just checking out a few more, at least you know'll for sure you are making the right decision if you take this one.

OH WOW that is so soon i can only imagine how excited you are. I am even looking forward to things like cleaning up the place hahaha...I told FH if we are able to request the week after our wedding but right before honeymoon since were leaving a week later, it'd be perfect bc we can tell our families to clean it for us, i was JK bc i want to do it. Even fh was like NO i want to clean and fix it up

yeah i feel we have to just look, the agent told us actually that she doesnt need to move ASAP as in doesnt need an answer within the next week or anything like that and will keep us updated and ill definitely make sure to check up. Its so confusing hahahaha, and yeah so many different feelings. Thank you i get excited bc ill finally get to have a dog, so thats the first thing ill do
