ALCOHOL ON THE WEDDING DAY

Original post by RobbsWifey

Do you want/mind your FH drinking with his buddies before the ceremony, even if just a shot or glass of champagne?

I really don't want FH drinking at all because he's got a couple of drinker friends and worry he might have more than 1 drink.

I had champagne with my bagels while getting dressed..I know he didn't have anything while getting dressed. We took pics at my aunt's house before the ceremony and we both had a cocktail or two...

but nobody was drunk and everyone had a great time.

I don't see how a celebratory glass of wine or a beer would hurt. Several would! but not one or two.

VERRRRYY IMPORTANT!!!!
IF YOU PLAN ON DRINKING- EVEN ONE GLASS OF WINE MAKE SURE YOU EAT SOMETHING! EVEN IF IT'S HALF A BAGEL.

very good advice-- omg, when i drink on an empty stomach: bad results, bad bad bad

Um...I don't mind at all..so long as he's not sloshed. I expect him to be nervous, and I expect him to have the time of his life...If it means a shot or two....so be it.

Anyways....I think I'll need a few myself before the ceremony. Take care of those butterflies

u took the words right out of my mouth.. i dont drink so i wont be drinking but he is a very good drinker. he can hold his liquer and never get stupid.
a drink b4 the ceremony with his boys is not going to hurt him. As long as he doesnt get drunk.. i know he is going to drink during the reception but then again who wont be other than me?! anyway when My Fh get drink he tells me how much he loves me and how beautiful I am so I can live with that on the night of our wedding.

We've talked about this a lot because our ceremony is at 2:30 and our CH doesn't begin until 7pm, which leaves them PLENTY of time to get drunk in between. So I've asked my FH and his guys to not drink before the ceremony and then be careful before the CH. Both of the bestmen dont really want to be drunk before they give their speeches- they are a bit nervous I think.

Our groomsmen were drinking the whole time before the ceremony. DH had just a little. It actually made for some funny pictures. It was not a problem at all, but it made a bit more work for our photographer (b/c they kept going off to the bar, which was not supposed to be open yet).

FH doesn't really drink, but on our wedding I hope he has one. I know how stressed out he will be so a drink will probably relax him. I know I will need one to calm down.
