......is that I should have believed my friends and family who have already gotten married, about how I should not be surprised when I start seeing members of the BP's true colors!!!!

That is 100% true, but not only the BP... that goes for everyone in your life. I've learned A LOT about people who I thought were different...

One of my BM's just obviously is not interested in being in the BP. On the discussion of her dress and how much I felt guilty for how much they were (even though I suggested a few styles but the choice was COMPLETELY up to the girls) I got: 'Don't worry, this is the LAST BP I'll be in.'
When asked to chip in for the shower, she told another BM: 'I guess so. When is it again?'
On the bachelorette party (which is later this month), she told another BM that she had to see if she could get the day off. The plans were made and agreed on over Mother's day weekend. When one of the BM's asked her if she wanted to chip in maybe $40 for party favors and lingerie, she said: 'I spent over $600 on my dress (she's plus size and apparantly paid WAY more than the other BM's and for this I felt so guilty but I know it's not my fault) and am moving into a house in the spring. I can't put any money toward anything else with this wedding. I don't even want to go to AC and am losing a lot of money taking the day off' She is a hairdresser!!!!!!!!!!
I've known this person over 20 years and was asked to be a BM in addition to just FAMILY MEMBERS. She was the only friend. I understand how expensive it is to be in a BP. I've attended several myself but to be so boisterous about it especially to OTHER BM's is just plain inconsiderate. Complain to your neighbors, co-workers, etc.....Not to MY BP and not to my face! And the sad thing is, I can't even say anything. Because I know if I do, it will be awkward forever and I don't want to ruin my day because of it.

It's so sad that at such a joyous time in our lives our family and friends are the most difficult and their true some not so pretty colors come out.

y is that ppl can't realize that ur wedding is supposed to be the best of moment of ur life??? y they has to stress u n try to ruin it??? i know is frustrating....

i'm sorry you are dealing with this.
that's kind of how i feel about FSIL, who is a BM and who I was friends with before FH and I started dating years ago. I found out that she did next to nothing for my shower, yet at the shower she pretty much took over as if she was the best BM ever. It took almost 2 weeks for her to respond to my bachelorette party evite, which my sister (MOH) discussed with her weeks before. I have to tell FH or FMIL to get a hold of her for anything. She never checks emails and half the time doesn't answer the phone or texts. I mean, her parents don't even know where she is half of the time. I can't wait for the day I'm in her BP!!!

please my own brother didn't come to my engagement party, my shower (which all of my other brothers came too!) and my bachelor/bachelorette party......................... and NO CARD, NO GIFT NOTHING!!!!
