Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
Don't even get me started on the name thing! I dread telling 99.9% of people the names we like because they feel it is their place to name our child. I told Scott that I really cannot discuss the name thing too often with people because it just upsets me. I didn't name their kids, they cannot name mine. I usually say 'guy' if it is a boy and 'chick' if it is a girl. Scott loves to say Lucifer for a boy That shuts them up real quick.

I have been starting to say we really don't know yet. I will never ever make a comment about someone elses choice of names. It is so rude

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
While it's a bone of contention for my MIL, I DO NOT WANT TO FIND OUT!!! Joe goes back and forth and practically strained himself looking to see if he could see anything during the amnio! I know when I go for the Level 2 sonogram in 2 weeks, he'll really be trying to look!!! But he knows how much it means to me not to find out!!!
I feel that it's anticlimatic in some way!! IMO!

We didnt find out and when I was in labor it was something to talk about. When the doc pulled Emma out Derek was the first to announce that she was a girl... it was AMAZING to hear her daddy announce that she was here and that she was a she. Something I'll always remember.

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
At first we both agreed that we didn't want to find out but now Roland has been saying that he thinks we should find out. I think the grandma's got to him (they both want to know so bad). But yesterday we spoke to one of the nurses and she was telling him how wonderful it was for her friend to have it as a surprise and I think she may have swayed him back.
We'll see how he does at my 2nd level sono in a few weeks.
Do any of you have a feeling that it wil be one or the other? I've had two dreams now that it was a boy !

The secret is -- be overweight to start with!! At least I think that's my secret...
Still, I think I ate a very healthy diet (including a good amount of ice cream - for calcium of course !)
I think maybe I was just lucky - I need to gain between 15 - 20 so with 5 weeks to go I think I will be in good shape...

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
Is that the standard that doctors recommend that pregnant women gain between 15-20 pounds?

35-40 if you are underweight 25-35 if you are not over weight 15-25 if you are overweight

Am I the only one that just got depressed at that answer.
I really do not want to gain so much weight. I mean the baby will only weigh about 7 or 8 pounds (i hope) why do I have to gain so much

Let me correct I am not upset at what you gained. Just upset at the recommend weight gain.

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
Neva, your doctor will provide you the right guidance for your body type and pre-pregnancy weight.
You need to bear in mind that a good portion of the increased weight is for things like amniotic fluid, increased blood volume and of course, the baby as it grows inside you. If you are healthy and eat balanced meals as well as moderately exercise during pregnancy, you should not have a problem getting back into shape after the baby is born. But, remember - dieting during pregnancy is NOT an option. So as long as you accept the fact that you will gain some weight, you can concentrate on making healthful food choices while allowing for the occasional craving.

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
Regarding the weight gain - remember, it's not just the baby's weight. Your uterus gets bigger, your blood volume increases, your boobs get bigger, the placenta weighs something, etc. etc. So anything less than 15 pounds would probably be unrealistic. Remember - its for the health of your baby...

There is a guy here that knows what his wife is having but is sworn to secrecy. He can not tell anyone. I think he gets bribes every day.

Re: All our lovely LIW mommies to be
I feel like my boobs are 10 lbs already!!
On the topic of comments .... I'm 8 1/2 weeks pg. Am I showing? No, maybe look a little rounder or something .... but I've had 3 mothers in my building stop me cold & say ...
'Congratulations. When is your due date?!' What am I, wearing a sign or something?! How could they know? They all said the same thing ... 'I'm a mother, I can tell.' And people are starting to talk. I've got to announce soon, the rumors are flying!
Oh, and Jenn ... we will definitely NOT find out. I want to hear Vinnie announce it! That was such a great story!!!
