all time low...we are now verbally inviting people
I feel like I invited all of the WRONG people. I tried to keep it to immediate family and close friends because the hall only holds 170 in my room. I made exceptions and drew the line at 227.
So far, it seems like NO ONE from my Dad's side is coming and hardly anyone from Fi's Dad's side is coming. I don't think we'll even make our minimum of 125.
But, of course we've been getting phone calls from people who are hurt and offended because we didn't invite their adult children or we left out some distant, far off cousin. We also left off a bunch of our friends.
So, fi has started to verbally invite people...
I am thinking that I will send out a pretty direction package to these guests...We have run out of excuses to give...'oh, it must have gotten lost in the mail...'
'oh, we didn't want to burden you with such a long drive'
'Oh, I think we're just stupid'...

Awwww........ Did you invite a lot of out of towners? We kept our list at a minimum and invited only people we knew would come (with the exception of a couple). That is hard..... but people should not be peed off that you didn't invite their adult children or distant relatives. I mean seriously people should understand that paying for a wedding is very costly .
I am sure you will be able to make your minimum especially since you invited over 200. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

why don't you say we had to invite so and so because he's my uncle and now we can invite who we want to(friends) that is!
even though it may be a little weird.. honesty sometime does pay off.
i had a situation like that for my e party- wanted to invite some friends but had to do family first. luckily some family aren't going to i get to invite who i want to. i sent an invite to my friends parents 3 weeks after his. i explained the situation- there was no way of lying.. all though i felt awkward i think i did the right thing.

That sucks! I think you're handling it the best you can right now. I also agree that you should probably be honest with people. I would invite some of your friends that you couldn't originally before inviting guests adult children. It's still your wedding and you should share the day with people most important to you.

Awww, sorry sweetie..
I think your idea of the directional packets is a great idea, and I am going thru the same thing, we are sorta spreading the word, that only the first borns of the first cousins are being invited, and some are not too happy about it, but I can only fit 70 people in my room, so they are gonna just have to deal..
Don't sweat it, it will all work ok somehow..
so for now I send you lots of

I TOTALLY know what you mean - we had to be so picky about inviting friends and now some of them aren't coming - meanwhile, my family KEEPS ADDING PEOPLE and I am OUT of invites so I'm just telling them to TELL them they're invited.
