I was wasn't planning on it, but one of my kid's mom's invited herself and the whole family! I told her that I got engaged and she says 'The Jones family can't wait to go to your big, fat, greek wedding'!

I don't want to invite them! I was just going to ignore the subject

Absolutely not because I teach seniors in high school!

I have been to church weddings where the bride is an elementary school teacher and some of her students and parents have attended. During one of my friends it was so cute... the little girls were climbing over one another to try to get a view of her walking down the aisle, the look on their faces was priceless. As for the little boys, they looked bored and had no reaction when they saw their teacher. I think they'd rather be outside playing baseball

I am putting up an invitation outside my classroom because so many people have asked! The kids can't stop talking about it. I teach elementary and middle school. They're adorable A lot of them go to the church I am getting married at, so maybe that makes a difference, too.

That's what I think I'll do. One of the girls I work with invited kids to the churh and it was so nice to see their happy smiley faces!!!

Absolutely NOT! First of all, I teach high school and that would mean inviting 100 students. Perhaps for elementary teachers this would work out better.
But I definitely wouldn't want any of them at my wedding. I can't wait to get away from them at the end of the day.

No I'm not because I am getting married at Land's End. If I was getting married at a church near by where I live I would put out an open invitation. A fellow teacher got married at a church and her fourth graders came. She got such a cute picture of herself and the class sitting on the steps outside.

My niece was invited to her 3rd grade teacher's church cermony via an invitation given to them in class. I can't tell you how special it made her feel to get an invite. She was so thrilled to be going. If I taught younger children I would definately invite them to the cermony. As an elementary school teacher, you are someone they really look up to and admire.

I teach high school and some of the girls seem interested in coming, so I'll let them know the details. I think it would be fun if some of them could make it. No real formal invite, though.

My little kiddies came to the ceremony when I got hitched. They were all soo excited in the months leading up to my wedding. They talked about it more than I did. They were so cute and excited at the church. My photographer took a pic of DH and I with the kiddies. One of my little girls was crying she was soo happy. I didn't even cry, but my students did!!

I work in Dix Hills but live and am getting marrried in Queens. I don't think my kids will come. But my kids from last year might. I taught in the city last year and still talk to my kids and the teachers there. I was thinking of sending an invite in with my friends and telling the kids they can come.

My kids have asked if they could come and I said if they want to take the drive from Bayville to Wading River they are more than welcome. I teach fifth grade so they really get excited about this stuff.

I teach special ed to kids with severe emotional and behavioral issues. They cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time. They also would have no interest in a wedding - all boys. But the parents of the kids would. I only have 8 students in my class, some of which I have taught for 3 years. I have become quite close to the mothers of two of them and I bet they'd get a kick out of watching me walk down the aisle. However, I don't know how much of my personal business should be shared with the parents of my students. This is why many teachers are unlisted in the phone book -we need to keep certain things personal.

Oh I envy you!!! Kindergarten is so much fun!!! I am dually certified in ELED and SPED so maybe someday I shall teach Kindergarten.

But anyway,I have a few suggestions for you and your class.

1) Do a lesson on how your name is going to change (assuming you are taking FH's name) and invite them to see it happen!

2) Make your invitation a simple math equation on an inexpensive fold over card stock and then make a hanful of color copies.

Your invitation to the children could have a picture (or drawing of you) with Miss 'Maiden name' under it followed by a 'plus sign' then a picture or drawing of your FH with Mr 'His Last name' under it, followed by an '=' and then a picture of you two holding hands with 'Mr and Mrs FH' under it. Stick figures in primary colors would be very cute!!!

On the inside, keep it simple with the location and time of your ceremony.

You may want to send it home in an envelope and an additional note to the parents explaining that they are welcome to come to the ceremony to accompany their children.

I hope this helps.

Re: all you teachers out there....

I teach kindergarten and about a dozen of my students came to the church when I got married. Some of them were dressed in their Sunday best....they were so cute. I had the photographer take a photo of me and my husband with all the kids on the altar. It is one of my favorite pictures in my album.

I sent a flyer home in my students' homework folder inviting them to the church... a lot of parents carpooled to the church. I encourage you to put the invite out there. I am sure students of any age will come to see you on your special day.
