So, we come downstairs Sunday morning to go to the Met game and there are 7 pellet sized cracks in our front windshield on the driver's side. We checked other cars in the surrounding area and they were fine, so we were obviously a target, but we don't know why. When we were coming home Saturday night, I vaguely remember seeing a group of teenagers hanging out up the block, so they might have seen us get out the car and though they'd have a little fun. That's the only thing I can think of because all the cracks are on the driver's side, so this was done to hinder vision and make us have to get a new windshield. Luckily the car is still driverable and we're getting a newer car in a couple of months, so we'll have to see when and if we'll get it fixed. Unfirtunately, we only have basic insurance so glass breakage wouldn't be covered.
The best part is that we were parked in our assigned spot on our building's property, that is supposed to be secure, so we thought they should be liable for the damage, or at least part of it. They told us that we use the spot and park at out own risk and the building assumes no responsibility.

Sorry!! Maybe it was someone in your building shooting off a bb gun from their window. I would check into it further though to see if the building is liable, because it is on their property which is supposed to be secure.

That sux! Why would they isolate your car? Good luck with the board! Do you have a security company patrolling the parking area?
Some glass places have used windsheilds that are less expensive then new ones.

yes, there's a patrol car that goes around like once a night, very ineffective

My mother's place had security like that. Her car was broken into 3 times but the board never did anything
They are so weird about things.
One time they were patching her ceiling because the person upstairs had a leak and they broke her light fixture. They patched the ceiling but wouldn't replace the fixture since it was 'outside the wall', they said you had to go through your homeowners insurance.

I will apologize for being the 'Monday afternoon quarterback'... but glass coverage is usually so cheap its almost a no-brainer not to take.
I have had my windshield replaced for free in the past because of a small rock chip I got from the truck in front of me on the highway. They 'fixed' the chip but since it was still visable and pissed me off... i had insurance replace the entire windshield... no charge.

Well i'll try to help a little.
A windshield will usually run anywhere from $150-400 depending on the car.
Get it at a junkyard and it can be closer to the $15 mark. :D

Re: Also very PO'ed!
I think when I had my windshield replaced through insurance... the glass place charged me $385 buks for a new windshield installed. But I have a huge a$$ car.
