I ordered my dress from Doris Fashions in Brooklyn a couple of months ago. My dress came in and I went to try it on yesterday. I’m in love with my dress, now I’m nervous about alterations. I’m not sure I’m totally comfortable with having my alterations done there. Apparently I lost weight and my dress needs to be taken in a lot. I want my dress to be flawless, it don’t want my dress to look like it was taken in two sizes. Also the bolero that comes with my dress is HUGE, so alternations need to be done on that. There is a cleaners called Bridge Cleaners and Tailoring Downtown Brooklyn, they do amazing work on clothes, they are excellent tailors. It’s not the cheapest place but they have high standards and a great reputation. I’m only feeling a little leery about going to them because it’s not like it’s a bridal shop.
I thought about Kleinfelds Bridal, but its out of my budget. Thoughts and suggestions on an affordable place for alterations.
Kleinfelds will not alter a dress that was not bought there, but I believe if you approach their seamstresses outside of the store they will do alterations privately for you.
Sorry I don't have any better info for you. Good luck!

Thanks, I kinda figured that about kleinfelds, either way I know they are not cheap. Something in my gut is telling me if I go with the bridal shop I got my dress I'm going to be boiling , it could just be the nerves talking
