Other than bubbles, what is the alternative to throwing rice post ceremony?

Well you can't throw these, but bubbles are becoming popular! We're going to have the guests ring bells!! You could also do a butterfly or dove release.
We had rose petals thrown and loved it! There's a picture taken from a friend's camera on my review.

I am also having the dove release and I am afraid to do birdseed. The leaves is a great idea! Thanks for the great tips, as usual ladies. OH, and the herbal toss must have been beautiful!

Rose petals and bubbles, I think are the next two most popular.
I did ribbon wands. You can also do streamer throws.
I am doing a leaf toss, real dried leaves. Wont stain anything.. I like the idea of the herbal toss as well.. Birdsead is a good idea.. For the none throwing kind, I also thought about rining bells and blowing party horns for something very festive!

I went to a wedding last year where the couple had their guests throw tiny sea shells. The bride later complained that they hurt like hell.

We also used ribbon wands. They are surprisingly easy to make. My 94 year old Grandma helped assemble them!
I can't wait to see how they came out in our proofs. Here is a photo of another LI Bride's wedding (I hope she doesn't mind me posting). I liked how festive the ribbons looked in the pic.
we used dried lavender....it smells great when you step on it because it releases the fragrance

no, we didn't. but you can certainly do both.
we had a basket of 2 doves, then a basket of ten. a reading went with it to symbolize unity. the 2 doves represent us on our new journey and how even though we go off in different directions at times, we always come back to one another....then 10 represent our guests and family wishing us well on our new path.
