Alternative to rice

Other than bubbles, what is the alternative to throwing rice post ceremony?

so, when you have a dove release, nothing gets thrown?

no, we didn't. but you can certainly do both.

we had a basket of 2 doves, then a basket of ten. a reading went with it to symbolize unity. the 2 doves represent us on our new journey and how even though we go off in different directions at times, we always come back to one another....then 10 represent our guests and family wishing us well on our new path.

Lana - excuse my stupid question, but what happens t the doves when you release them? Are they trained to come back or do they just fly away and live off?

not stupid! they are trained to fly home. My vendor actually used my church parking lot as a training place for them and she lives up the road! they fly home! LOL...everyone worried about them! they were fine! and no poop! they aren't fed till after the release! we got so many q's about them!

Well you can't throw these, but bubbles are becoming popular! We're going to have the guests ring bells!! You could also do a butterfly or dove release.

We are also having people ring bells instead of throwing stuff. Plus they can ring them instead of hitting their glasses during the ceremony.
