FH and I were big into alternative music growing up, in HS and college. We still like indie bands like The Shins and Peter Bjorn and John
I am thinking about maybe doing a 'cool' song for our first dance or walking down the isle to something like 'Bittersweet Symphony' by The Verve...
Smashing Pumpkins 'Luna' or Jane's Addiction 'I Would For You' or Mazy Star 'Fade Into You' ...
Maybe 'Melt With You' for cake cutting song.
Anyone have any ideas????

I have been obsessing over this for months. Unfortunately, The Clash doesn't do love songs. Try old school Pretenders, Depeche Mode 'Somebody', the Cure's Lovesong, Smashing Pumpkins '33'.
I love 'Bittersweet Symphony' but FH wants to recreate the scene from 'Say Anything' as I walk down the aisle.
I will use 'Rock the Casbah' for bridal party intro though.

I have a lot of research ahead of me. I had two songs in mind, but they are old songs... The Association 'Never My Love' - makes me CRY when I hear it... so sweet - but part of me really wants to do a 'cool' song, ya know?

We've been tossing around doing upbeat fun songs. Stevie Wonder's For Once in my Life, or Signed Sealed Delivered. Something to get people up and dancing from the first dance!!!
If we go the other route we'll do somethng like Joe Cocker 'Have a Little Faith in Me' or Allison Krauss 'When you Say Nothing At All'
I'm all about the unconventional song...but I have found it hard to find something where the words really fit.

Don’t despair, there are some of us alt girls out there!
For walking down the aisle, I’m using “Real Love,” the Beatles cover by Regina Spektor. Another great song is Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales. I know we’re playing some Peter, Bjorn and John at the wedding since FH is Swedish…and that song was EVERYWHERE over there before it hit here.
The Ramones’ “Baby I Love You” is a great song too.

We picked some alternative songs for the wedding. I'm walking down the aisle to Dream Academy's cover of the Smiths song 'Please Please Please Let me get What I Want'-- it was the song playing in Ferris Buellers Day Off when they're in the museum. Our recessional is Bittersweet Symphony (FH picked it). Our first dance is to Inxs 'Never Tear Us Apart' and our 2nd dance is to 'Just Like Heaven' by the Cure. We finally decided on a cake cutting song-- 'Lips Like Sugar' by Echo and the Bunnymen.
I love Luna and Fade Into You!! Those are both on our list of songs to play before the ceremony when everyone is being seated.

I don't know if you were into Catherine Wheel, but Rob Dickinson, lead singer did a song called 'My Name is Love.' which is so amazing. I also love The Postal Service 'Such Great Heights' which I think will be the song we will use when we walk in. I also love Mika's 'Any Other World.' Can u tell I work with music? I could go on and on.

i love all these songs! i haven't thought about it that much but i know none of my songs will be traditional.
