alternatives to candlabras for center pieces

We are really tight on budget and the room that we are looking to book at the Chateau Briand speaks for itself. I prefer lower center pieces than candlabras b/c it would take away from the room. Any ideas besides candles? Thanks in advance

How about candles instead of flowers. I know what you meant about the Chateau. I think I would use frosted white cylinder candles in different sizes on the table and thats it. Try www.genwax.com or how about a few bud vases with a single stem of orchids something along those lines.

Thanks Fran M...

that is a really nice idea! It kind of reminds me of the unity candles but I am picturing them in the room and it would look really nice. Now would it look weird to alternate the center pieces? Say the candles and then a vase with flowers-I was thinking calla lillies or tulips.

I dislike the high ones as well. You should check out Yankee Candle. Thewy have a wedding section. I am having Yankee candle wedding bowls with floating candles and my florist is going to design around them. Thay are only like 11 inches tall.

alternatives for center pieces....CRZYCAT420...

I was thinking of the floating candles thing too. So how does that work exactly do they disappear in the water or what? This is another thing I am not sure of. Do the candles that are in holders just burn throughout the entire night or would they need to be replaced? Sorry I sound a little dense I never kept candles burning for hours at a time. If you don't mind me asking CRZYCAT420, what is your florist doing around the bowl?

Thanks Fran M...

I love that idea. I think Chateau has long tables so you could vary the height of the pieces down the table.

alternatives for center pieces

I went to a wedding that had 'candle garden' centerpieces. Each table had a mirrored circle in the center and between 8 and 10 different sized round candles arranged on it, with some greenery around the edges. I know my description doesn't sound very attractive, but I thought they were simple, elegant, and beautiful, and can't seem to make my words do them justice. I told the bride how much I liked them, and she told me that they were made from things picked up at Target and several different dollar stores! I was surprised and impressed! : )

a few years ago when my cousin got married his centerpieces were also his favors-to save money--they were silk flowers in a mirrored vase---all of the vases were together in the center of the table to make one arrangement and at the end of the wedding, each couple at the table took one mirrored vase with the flowers in them as their favor---it was really pretty---i think they were called 'break-aways'---we still have ours displayed in my house!!
