Hi all, Ive been a lurker for a while and decided i would like some of your great advice that Ive been reading here for a while now.
I have an issue and i dont know if im making a big deal out of nothing or what. I guess ill put it hypothetically cause Im not sure who comes across this site..
Would any of you be upset if you had your wedding booked and then you find out a few months later that another member of your extended family decided to book their wedding a few months before yours and they booked their date knowing your date was already booked?

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla
Yes...I AM pissed, but I'm letting it go. my FBIL and his fiance decided (after months of changing plans from a destination wedding, to a different destination wedding, to eloping to having it here on Long Island) to get married exactly 3 weeks before us.
They called to ask me if it was ok with me, and I agreed without really thinking b/c I was happy I wouldn't have to travel to Puerto Rico or Vermont. Then I thought about the OOT guests that were going to have to travel 2x in a month.
I expressed my guest list concerns to them, but they seem to think it will all work out.
Other than the guest list though- they are stealing my thunder. It's MY time...and we had ours planned for 9 months before they set a date (even though they were engaged a few months before us)
Anyway- yes, I would be pissed,but I wouldn't hold a grudge.
Good Luck!

i think i would be pissed at tfirst...but when u think about it, their wedding is before yours, so by the time ur wedding comes along your friends and fam will have forgotten about theirs and be excited about yours!

It's not like your weddings are a week apart. You will both have your time to shine. Everyone's wedding is different. I think that it is somewhat selfish to hold a grudge about it.

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla
It happened to me to the extent that the bride to be (FH's cousin) actually said 'well we have been dating longer than Tricia and Matt so we should be married first' (They are a year younger and started dating in high school. Matt and I met in college and started dating our junior year. )
I almost fell off my rocker when I heard she said that! I was really mad at first because that was her initial reasoning for getting married?!?!? But over time I have realized that now is the time that all of my friends and family will be getting engaged and married so it's bound to happen. Everyone I guess is entitled to get married when they want- some people just don't think about that stuff. When we got engaged a good couple friend of ours told me that I wasn't 'allowed' to get married before them since they were also having a longer engagement. And I felt that we shouldn't since it was that important to her. Maybe I'm a bit too nice, I dunno.
Also, FH and I will have had a 2 year engagement so that leaves plenty of time for others to jump in. I can't blame them for not wanting to wait because I wish we were already married!!!
Feel better!

I would be mad.. seriously but that's not being Bridezilla of you considering that they knew your date already- unless theres a really good reason (like the date is significant for them).

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla
at first i would be a little bothered by it. fh spoke to a friend of his recently and he told me we needed to 'save a date'. i was like when?!?! i was glad to hear that it was after our day. it's just that we been 2gether for a while and i don't want to go to another friends' wedding STLL as his girlfriend. he's just about the last of his friends to get married. so i kinda see ur arguement but think of any weddings that occur b4 urs as a learning experience.
