to book make up with out a trial? I finally booked DeRosa's for my hair & makeup. It's getting so close I had to book somewhere, even though I didn't love the hair trial. I never had a chance to do a makeup trial & I don't know if I will get chance to do it. Can make up be really bad?

YES!!! You need to set up a trial before using her. I went for a trial with a woman that the East Wind recommended. They told me she was their best vendor! Well, this woman made me look like bo bo the clown. You should check her out first! Better safe than sorry!

Definitely try to make time for a trial! I remember getting my makeup done when I was in my friends wedding and I hated it and wiped it all off in the car and re-did it myself in the car! Don't take that risk on your most important day! You want to make sure ahead of time that you will like your makeup.. one less thing to worry about day-of!

I would definitly say to get a trial! I got my makeup done for my sisters wedding. The makeup and my skin didn't mix well and I looked awful in the pictures. I would get a trial and take lots of pics!

Re: am I crazy....
the only way id ever book someone for makeup without a trial is if they had an obnoxiously amazing portfolio and reviews and reputation. if youve seen his/her work on like 25 people that you adored, then its fine id think.

You need the trial not only to make sure that the person doing it isn't crazy, but to be sure that you have all the colors you need. I'm bringing very specific eye shadows and lipsticks.

I don't want to freak you out...but I don't think it is a good decision to book without a trial... especially if you are either very picky about your makeup or not a big makeup wearer it could turn out to be not what you had in mind..... believe me... some people just don't do makeup that is best on you sometimes. Try to get the trial!!!

Re: am I crazy....
I have to second what everyone else said here. I know your wedding is close, but it is something you want to know! And even if she had a sick portfolio, it might not come out right on you, etc. In addition, you might want to change little particulars, like blush color, etc, and you don't want to do that 5 minutes before your photographer shows up! I would definitely make the time, especially if you say that you did not love the hair trial! I would also ask for a redo on the hair to get to something you love while you do makeup if at all possible! JMO

Definitely get a trial... or see if your hair girl does m/u too. My girl does both - but doesn't really tell people unless they ask and she does an amazing job - I don't get it...
