Am i going to regret not doing the Viennese hour?

Original post by JennyAPH

Lately I feel like just the wedding cake doesn't really 'cut it' anymore for dessert and that I should do the viennese hour. If you are doing it why did you decide to? You think its worth spending the $15 extra per person?

We're not having a VH. Maybe the RH can throw in some pastries for each table but if not, then everyone will just have to settle for cake. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of cake and would prefer a buffet consisting of cookies, brownies, etc. but for the extra expense, we're choosing an afterparty at the hotel.

I'm not doing the Veinnese Hour...in my opinion, the last hour is when the party is really getting good, and having everyone stop to sit and eat all that dessert kinda kills it.

This is why we declined it.

We are def doing, there was no choice for us... Our Italian families would have beat us since they feel its not a wedding with the VH but thats cause we love to eat... anyway.. our wasnt 15 extra per person, it was 5 extra

oh and another reason why we are doing it is because honestly, I have never tasted a wedding cake that is good and since my fav part of any meal is dessert i felt I owed it to myself and my guests to serve them something delish! thats just me wanting to try everything though ...

JMO -- From the start I wanted a Viennese hour...that was my big thing! I can't believe it's $15pp extra though! I would try to negotiate that down.

I love the viennese hour but IMO it is not worth it...there is already SOOOO much food happening that I'd be surprised if most people ate even the cake. I'd rather save the money for something else...plus I hate thinking about all the extra dessert that will not get eaten and will just be thrown out

These were my thoughts exactly!!

this depends on the RH.. my SIL got to take her extras home!

I think, with how much people eat at the actual CH and reception, a Viennese hour would be soooo much more food that no one will have room for haha. But that's JMO. I contemplated it but my hall offered a 'dessert tasting plate' for each person for an additional like 3 or so bucks pp. It gave everyone tartufo, canoli, chocolate covered strawberries, assorted pastries, cream puffs, etc. on top of wedding cake and I felt that was better than the full hour. Then again, if you want to extend it a full hour that's a different story and might be totally worth it.

Ok, Bonnie, I'm drooling over those desserts!!!!!! Mary MOB

Our RH served another dessert along with the cake. Can you see if they can do that possibly? We did not have the Viennese hour and definitely didn't miss it.

Is the $15/pp just for the food, or to keep the party going an extra hour? If it's to keep it going an extra hour, then it's not SUCH a bad quote, but still negotiate!
