Lately I feel like just the wedding cake doesn't really 'cut it' anymore for dessert and that I should do the viennese hour. If you are doing it why did you decide to? You think its worth spending the $15 extra per person?

Re: Am i going to regret not doing the Viennese hour?
I did not want a Viennese hour- It is just too much food! We have wedding cake and a plated dessert included in our menu as well as a cordial bar. Our RH added platter of cookies and fresh fruit to accompany the cordial bar.

We decided not to, because our wedding is during the day and people are already going to be stuffed. Plus, it's a Sunday afternoon so I feel like people might be looking to head out of there and finish up their weekend before Monday comes along. I also don't like the idea of things going to waste. Our RH gives us a dessert and the cake, so I don't see the need to upgrade with a VH.
Now, if I was having an evening affair on a Friday or Saturday, I think I'd consider it more, since people are more inclined to stay late on those days.
I do loooooove when other people have VH's, I gotta say. Mmm mmm!

I honestly don't think it's worth it...people will stuff themselves because it's there without really enjoying it. Plus it will most likely keep people from dancing, and I'd rather see a crowded dance floor then people shoving desserts in their faces.

We are not doing one.... what we are doing is the New York Style Cheesecake... it is AMAZING ... Our hall won this in Vegas for the best cheesecake... and it is an additional $4.50 pp... so that is so worth it to us !!!!!!!!!

I personally like viennese hour. But guests dont NEED it! That said I will be having one.
Also, I HATE how some places make certain things 'extra' and package here and package there. Isn't the initial pp charge enough? Sorry... mini vent!
ITA, im doing it but mainly becaus eim a dessert freak so its purely selfish reasons lolollllll

My hall includes pastries & cookies with the cake, so we decided to upgrade with the ice cream sundae bar for $3 pp. I think $15 is a bit high IMO. It's a nice thing to have, but not a necessity.
Talk to your RH and see if they have a mini viennese...one hall I looked at had a mini-v for only $5pp.

i didn't want one. instead we have a dessert platter with different desserts for the table plus a fruit platter too. $15 i think is a bit high for the venetian - are they trying to charge more because you are trying to add it after the original pp was already negotiated?

I'm not doing the Veinnese Hour...in my opinion, the last hour is when the party is really getting good, and having everyone stop to sit and eat all that dessert kinda kills it.

ITA!!! This is one of the reasons why we are not doing it either- besides it being an extra cost. I'd rather people keep on dancing and enjoy themselves drinking

Re: Am i going to regret not doing the Viennese hour?
im not because we get to pick a desert that will be served with the wedding cake so all that i think will fill up all the guests tthat they wont even notice about the Viennese hour,.

I think they're only really worth it if you have a very large guest list, because otherwise it can be wasteful, and I really hate seeing food waste. If you want something extra, why don't you look in to a chocolate fountain or an ice cream bar or just a little something extra? I'm doing a cheesecake bar because there was no way in hell I was paying 14-18 dollars pp depending on how long we had it for. I met with your RH, and we discussed Viennese, and believe me, you can negotiate that. Maybe it's slightly different because we were quoted for 11/7 from them so not as peak season...but you can definitely work on that number if it's something you really want.

Is this a cultural thing? Like Greek or Italian? I have been to many weddings and never seen a VH. It sounds DIVINE!!!

Re: Am i going to regret not doing the Viennese hour?
I think it all depends on your personal preference....
I personally LOVE viennese and my hall has an AMAZING viennese ! If I had to pay 15 a person, although I would REALLY want it, not sure if I would be able to afford it....
we got a great deal so we got lucky...
there is no right or wrong...it depends on what you want and can afford is what it comes down to

Re: Am i going to regret not doing the Viennese hour?
i have never been to a wedding with a VH hour...i had no desire for one until i saw all the girls on here having one...i started thinking like should i have one?!
but then i realized its def not worth it for us....our hall is also $15 pp for the VH which is alot considering we have the Cake and our rh gives us a tasting plate with choc cake, apple crisp and something else i cant remember lol.
we are going to have sooo much food i didnt think it was worth the money.
