I don't know what is wrong with me today but I'm having the worst period day of my life! Everything is bothering me! Listen to how petty I'm being...DH's friend just called him and said he plans on proposing, which is a long time coming(9 yrs.) I'm happy for his girlfriend and him. He wants DH to take him to his jeweler where he got my ring. He told DH the amount that he wants to spend which is a little more than my ring cost. Problem is...she wants the same ring as mine! I told DH I don't want her to have the same ring as mine but bigger!! I got upset! Isn't that ridiculous! Am I being crazy or what? My ring is gorgeous and I love it and wouldn't want anything different, BUT, I don't want this girl who's in the same circle as us to have the same ring!! Nuts, right!

I don't think you're being ridiculous at all!! Your ring is a very personal piece of jewelry...she should pick something different! If she wasn't in the same social circle as you, then I wouldn't worry about it. But, who likes a copycat? I don't think you're over reacting!

I don't think thats nuts at all. Your ring is your ring. Ypu had it first. Why would she want a replica of what someone else has anyway? Tell her to get her own taste!

Not nuts. I'd be major PO'ed if some girl got my same ring (mine is very distinctive - sapphires on either side of my diamond). Can't he change the shape of the trillions or baguettes or anything (assuming your ring has that stuff)? Why WOULD she want your same ring?

I don't think you are crazy. I wouldn't want one of my friends to have the same exact ring as me. Why can't he find something that would be special for her? Who would want the same as their friend?

Thank you! My DH thinks I'm crazy! I told him that when they go to the guy tonight he better make sure they pick something different. Mine is set up high(cathedral setting) round brilliant tiffany. How can they make that different? Maybe set it lower? Any suggestions? Ugh!!!

I'm glad you ladies understand! God, I feel like I need to be put in a padded room today! I don't think I've ever had mood swings like this before. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have my 'friend.'

The worst part of it is that she's not that kind of a person, I mean to out right 'copy' me. I don't think she meant it like that or realized that it would upset me, my other friend said to take it as a compliment. I don't know...

It is a compliment that she obviously loves your ring but she needs to get her own! He should be able to see what type she likes by looking at yours but he needs to pick a different one!

I don't think you're losing it, but a single solitare catherdral setting is very popular - I could see if you had an emerald with trillions in an antique setting or something like that...I know lots of girls, all friends, that have the 'classic' Tiffany setting. The only thing I would suggest would be for him to get her a different width band - that can change the look of the setting a little bit without haveing to add side stones or anything else she didn't want. Think of it as flattery - she loves your ring b/c its beautful!

I would also see it as acompliment but pms or not, I'd be a little po'd too if someone in my same social circle got the same ring as mine but bigger. My FH and his best friend went shopping for e-rings to the same jeweler and got similar rings but different stones (mine round, hers emerald). We are looking at similar wedding bands too but an e-ring is different.

I don't think your nuts at all....I can see where you are coming from. Your ring is your ring. Unfortunately it is a popular setting....See if he can add a baguette or 2? maybe a different band?set it lower?
