Am I over-reacting

Am I over-reacting

OK FH says I'm over reacting, but I'm pis sed! I was at a family function this weekend and my Aunt brought up how stressful it is to do seating charts. I said well I hope it wont be stressful when we get to it. Meanwhile we haven't even set out the invites yet. So yesterday I get an email from my cousin, saying she heard me talking about seating charts and could I sit her with our friends and not family. Hello! If you heard us talking, you heard how stressful it is. Why are you making it harder by making demands where you sit? I was going to sit her with our friends but now I feel like sitting her with family out of spite. I wont. I know it's immature. But I am pissed. Like I don't have enough to worry about. What if another relative requests that I sit all the relatives together? I really want to tell her off. But FH says I am totally overreacting. I probably am. Just had to vent. Thanks.

Vent away.... but yeah, I wouldn't get all worked up over this. Write her back just letting her know that when you begin to even THINK about where people are sitting, you'll try and remember her request. Don't sweat the small stuff

I felt the same way when FH's family friend sent him an email requesting to be seated with a certain group of people. WHO DOES THIS???? I was livid!!! Obviously you will be seated with people you know. Some people have balls but I'm so over it now and seated them all together cause it worked out that way.

Just tell her that you haven't started working on it yet. Trust me, this won't be the last person who makes a request. I had a small wedding, and I still had problems with relatives--on both sides--who wouldn't share a table with certain other relatives. And when you don't have that many tables, it can really be a issue trying to work it out. I'm so happy that we didn't have any drama from our friends.

Don't get too upset, but write back, 'We haven't even sent out the invitations and won't be working on seating charts until we know who's coming! We have too many people to take everyone's requests, so I can't guarantee seating like Ticketmaster can. We'll try... but let us get the invites out first, okay? '

Tell me about it - last week I went to my cousin's engagement party and I had an aunt chase me down to get my ss#. I found out later that she wanted to get me a bond for our wedding - but when she finally got a hold of me, she asked if she could sit with specific people (which I was going to sit her with regardless). When I said 'sure' she said 'OK - good, then I'll come'

I'm sorry - but What the Chuck?? So if I said NO she wouldn't come to my wedding? This is my mother's sister!

I completely sympathize!

I am in the process of doing seating arrangements and I could not believe at how many demands we got! First it's the WHOLE bridal party should sit together on a dais, which FH and I are adamantly against. Next it's FBIL needs to sit with cousins--again FH and I do not want to do this because he doesn't even talk to any of them and all his friends are going to be there so he'd be more comfortable with them. Next (from FMIL) it's I want my family completely separate on the other side of her ex-husband's family.

I say I will sit you wherever I want and you'll deal with it. Be thankful that I'm not in a spiteful mood and put you exactly where you DON'T want to sit.

Just do what you want and go about creating your arrangement how you see fit. You won't be able to please everyone.

don't get worked up about it--like kara said--email her back and say 'Well we haven't set anything in stone yet, since the invites aren't out---but we'll try and take your request into consideration'

then sit her wherever you want--case closed. i would just let this one go and move on!

I completely agree. Cause if you think about it - it's a WEDDING! I don't think I've ever seen anyone sit down the entire time anyway. If you're only sitting for a meal and a toast, than I think why should a person give a squish WHO's at their table? People are going to get up and mingle, dance, do shots at the bar - regardless.

I figure people should just be happy they were thought enough of that they got an invite!
