Am I overeacting...

Original post by newhere

My FI and his lil sister, I'll call her princess, have two diff fathers and princess' father is mega rich, well for her sweet sixteen party he bought her an amzaing, to die for, custom made versace dress, in lite pink...a beautiful dress,
well due to a death in her fathers family, princess had to cancel her sweet sixteen and was unable to wear her dress, so my FMIL wants her to wear it to my wedding!!!!!!!!! my mom freaked when she heard this b/c her princess' dress is so much better then all my BM's dress'...and prolly better then my $700 gown...My mom wants to call my FMIL and tell her that princess can't wear her dress to the wedding, its too close to a wedding dress, My FMIL thinks its pink so its totally okay...am I overreacting? or do I have a right to be mad..

also to make matter worse,MY FI college buddy is bringing as is date(as a friend) my FI college sweetheart, they broke up five years ago and he hasnt seen her in over three...my emotions are just on a roller coaster...

I feel like all the attention at my wedding is going to be on princess' dress and my FI college sweetheart.

I need a hug and a valium...

Re: Am I overeacting...

this is a good point

I had 3 girls that wore such inapporpaite dresses- all with fake bobbies

I even have a pic of a nip slip

they didn't take any attention away from me!

I am suprised that so many of you think it is appropriate for a 16 year old BM to wear that dress to the wedding. She will be in a lot of your pictures. She wont outshine you but she will definately be a negative distraction from you and your other BM. If she is in your BP (not just a guest) you do have the right to tell what to wear. To me this is beyond the price of the dress...I think it is too revealing especially if the other dresses are not that revealing. I would do what someone else on this board said. pick a desingeer and color and let them pick from a few different styles.

Oh your dress is so beautiful!!!!!!

make 'princess' a junior brides maid- and order her a dress from David's Bridal...

sorry I can be very evil some times- honestly no one will be paying attention to her- don't worry

I totally agree!!! give her one of the dresses with a pink puffy sleeve!! you are the bride and you can do anything that you want!!!

as for the EX!...tell that college buddy that she can wait at the corner where she belongs until the wedding is over... what the heck is wrong with these boys

I need a drink too

All I have to say is, 'Princess should not wear that gown, and she will look like a whore'. I dont care how much money the dress is.

Your FH EX should be uninvited. That is not right, and is disrespectful to you and FH. FH needs to call his friend and tell him that, he is invited to the wedding, but needs to find a new date. It is not like your FH is friends with her. He hasn't seen her in years. It is just an uncomfortable thing for you to deal with on a very important day.I am the most non-jealous person, but I would never invite and ex-boyfriend to the wedding out of respect of FH.

I have on of my FI's ex's coming to the wedding, but I love her, I would seriously be friends with her if I meet her some other way. They are still friends and I totally respect that. Maybe try getting to know the ex a little more if she's still friend's with your FI.
If she's not and they have no connection anymore- totally tell him you don't want her there, I'm sure he'll agree and not want her there either. The last thing you want is her pulling him to the side to tell him he loves her and bla blah blah- NG!

Re: Am I overeacting...

ask Princess to try it on for you so you can see her in it...maybe do this with other BM's so you can 'see if they all work together'

Then have someone bump into you while you have a drink in your hand and OOPS.. Big wine stain on the Versace!!!

Shucks!
