I think you are overreacting. You can't tell people what to wear to your wedding. You are the bride and no one is going to get confused about that. Who cares what she wears.
The ex-GF thing would bug me a little, but hey-he is marrying you-she'll be more jealous of you.

I agree totally with this. If she is not a bridesmaid and just a guest, you really can't control what people wear. You are the bride and ALL eyes will be on you and your dress. After seeing the dress that she will wear, don't worry people will only being saying bad things about her anyway, and your FMIL for letting a 16 year old wear that!!!

About the ex-girlfriend, it probably will be a little weird, but he is marring you!!!

It's your day don't let people like this bug you, show them that little issues like this don't upset you. JMO.

That dress is not appropriate for a BM. Let alone for a 16 year old!

Yours is classy and hers is assy!

Unfortunately, like others have said, you can't tell someone what to wear. Yes, it's your day and people should use their common sense and make you happy but sadly, most people don't care and do what they want, anyway.

You also can't tell guests who to bring and who not to bring, so while it's really crappy that sweetheart will be there, you can't say 'don't bring her.' I had a similar situation at my wedding. Not a sweetheart but a friend of DH's who was VERY rude to me and I swore to him that this person would NOT be at our wedding but in the end I realized it wasn't a big deal. This person's presence would not bring me down. And neither will sweetheart's. She'll be crying in her beer!

NO all the BM's are wearing a similar pink shade, but they get to choose the syle they want. they are all different ages and sizes and I didnt think just one style would complement all my gals, but yeah I guess I will let her wear her dress,

I was just a little jealous, of the 'ex', she is very pretty, and it took FI a long time to get over her breaking up with him..

when I 1st met my FH's ex, i thought she was pretty too - and guys are all into her (and she's not a young woman) - he was also upset when she dumped him - and when I say fling - it was a total fling - which bothered me more than emotions, if you know what I mean - they would still get together for booty calls after breaking up - so there was definitely that physical attarction there...

It took a while for me to get over it, but I did....

Quite honestly I do not see why you are over reacting over her dress. She is entitled to wear whatever she wants. The day will be yours bottom line. I just can't see what is the big deal over someone's dress and the cost. JMO

To me, I think it is not right when the bridesmaids or MOG/MOB dresses are more fancy/expensive than the brides dress. I wore a couture gown, but would have been upset if my mom or MIL wore a more expensive dress. I think it is personal though. The person who in my mind should have the 'best dress' is the bride and for some best means price - it might not be right, but at the same time it is what it is.

I do understand your point but IMO I do not think it really matters if anyone dress is more expensive than the bride's dress because after all it will be her day and allthe attention will be on the bride. I would not be upset if someone's dress cost more than mine. If they can afford it so be it they can wear whatever suits them.

Not for nothing ladies, but will there be price tags hanging off the dresses????

My dress was only $800.00 - but it looks like it culd be $4000. If I told someone either price, they would believe me. Trust me ladies - prices don't mean a thing!!!

is her dress really that low cut? IMO it's not apporipate for such a young girl to wear a dress like that any where!

What the F.......

Ok - thats just plain trashy!!!

what parent lets their 16 yo wear that????

My future stepdaughter is 15, and there is no way in hell we would let her dress that way - not to a sweet 16, a wedding, or to take out the garbage!!!!

That has nothing to do with price - your dress is gorgeous and classy - hers is just plain hoochy and inappropriate... Just wrong - no BM should dress like that unless the bride is a porn star...

The ex should 100% not be there, why would she want to in the first place.. that is just rude. And secondly, princess is 16 years old and everybody knows how 16 years are.. they think they look good but, in reality they look like somebody who is trying to hard.

You'll be a knockout, she will get drunk off of 1 glass of champagne by the time you get to the reception hall and be in the bathroom puking anyway!!!

looking at this photo makes me think this whole post was made-up drama. Who buys an outfit like that for a 16 year old? I don't know-just my opinion.

Wait... You think this was a fabricated story???? Who would do someting like that?

i don't know - it seems legit to me - I mean, why make up a story like that? She seems pretty upset...

Some people do let their kids dress that way.... ever watch that sweet 16 show with those snotty bratty teens?

You shouldn't care how much her dress costs over yours. You have an elegant gown and even if her dress was in the price range of the others I wouldn't want it in my wedding photos. The dress to me looks trashy and not for an elegant wedding reception. Besides the fact she is only 16.

Regarding the ex girlfriend remember he is marrying you and she was a long long time ago. Just think you get to say ha ha You got the best catch

I was thinking the same thing, that dress reminded of those rich girls on the MTV show My Sweet 16. BEcause they are rich, they have no boundaries. They all wear severely slutty dresses.

Don't let this 16 year old girl have power over you. You'll feel silly in the end because your day will be amazing.

I agree with a lot of the comments on here.

No one will pay attention to the 16-year old PRINCESS. You are the BRIDE...all eyes will be on you. So if it is gonna happen, trust in that you will still be the center of attention. If it really bothers you that much, say something.

I wouldn't be comfortable with an ex at the wedding...but YOU ARE THE ONE HE IS MARRYING--NOT HER.

Both of these issues, can be just blips on the radar if you see them in a positive light. But honestly, if you can't, speak up. See if FI's friend can bring another friend..especially since this is not his 'girlfriend, only a friend'.

In the meantime...

Re: Am I overeacting...

No... you're NOT overreacting. I'm a big believer in eliminating any potential wedding day problems before they arise. She cannot where that dress... that's not fair to you. This is NOT her Sweet Sixteen Part II. This is your one and only wedding day. Maybe you can stick her in the bridal party just to make her wear the dress everyone else is wearing? lol. I don't know if you're close to her or not, but your fiance may have to say something about the situation. I'm sure you're doing most of the wedding planning... HIS job is to keep you happy during it!

As for the EX... NO WAY. Can't you speak to the guy who's bringing her? That's NOT fair to you, and if he's a true friend, he would recognize that. I'm sure your fiance wouldn't even have ANY emotions about his ex on your wedding day, but if it bothers you, you should nip it in the bud. Is that guy serious with that girl? Or would it be just a 'wedding date?' Either way, it's not fair to you...

1. Princess is going to look like a little skank in that dress. She *will* take attention away from you, not because the dress looks more expensive, but BECAUSE THAT DRESS IS TOTALLY HOOCHIE. Tell her to wear it to homecoming, and to wear something age-appropriate to your wedding. Have your FH do it.

AGREED except for the part that she will take attention away because IMO no dress can overshadow a whole wedding. However, that is NOT an appropriate dress for a 16 year old, and a little too revealing for ANY woman to wear to a wedding IMO (and I'd like to think I could pull something like that off - but I'm 31, and I would not wear that to a wedding!!).

2. Your dress is stunning, but I understand your feelings about price of dress. My MIL's dress cost more than mine and I was P.O.ed. Mainly because she has all this money to spend on a dress, but none to contribute to her son's wedding. Oh, and she was rude about it to me too.

As a guest at Rachel's wedding and knowing this story beforehand, I can assure you that no one took any notice of the cost of her MIL's gown, and neither will anyone take notice of the cost of Princess's hootchie gown. Although your feelings are certainly valid.

4. Your FH needs to talk to his friend, because I'm concerned about ulterior motives for him bringing this ex. Do you get along with this friend? Is this friend just that clueless that he doesn't realize how inappropriate it is for him to bring this woman?

AGREED again!

You are NOT overreacting. All of these people are acting irresponsibly, ESPECIALLY FMIL, because why is she allowing her 16 year old to buy a dress like that?

I hate to add more fuel to the fire, but if she lets her 16 year old dress like that, what will she wear?

But what I know for sure (and I've even posted about it in the past) is that there is always one inappropriately dressed woman at a wedding, at least in my experience. Sure she gets some attention, but it is NEGATIVE attention. Nothing takes away from the bride - no baby, no bridesmaid, no hootchie mama.

I hope it all works out for you!

Ironically enough, as a guest at Rebecca's wedding - she had to point out the woman in the inappropriate dress to me!

Rebecca - you are always one of my favorites.
