One of FH friends is getting married at the Woodlands in March of 08, and it is really pissing me off. First of all, I found out at my eparty (not cool). Second of all, a huge reason why we booked the Woodlands is because we never been to anything there. Now I feel like going to a wedding there 3 months before mine is going to ruin it for me. FH says I am overreacting. How would you feel?

Re: Am I overreacting???
On Long Island, it is inevitable that you will know someone who gets married at the same place as you. It stinks that you had to find out at your e-party. Each wedding is different and I am sure that your friends will have a good time at each! While I understand you are upset, dont let it bother you because there is nothing you can do about it but sit and be mad. Nobody is going to change the location of their wedding this late in the game. JMO

They're not from LI. But yes, I understand that. But I am considering not going. My BM said I really shouldn't go. FH thinks I'm nuts.

I think it would bother me also but I don't think the day of your wedding you are going to be thinking about how you were already there for his wedding. Think of it as seeing what you liked and didn't like at his wedding and you can do it for yours to make yours better than his...lol :)

Dont be mad but I think you are overreacting. Your wedding is going to be beautiful because its yours. You both will have totally different things and decor so it both will be different. wish them the best and know that yours will be beautiful !!!!!!!

LOL. That's what FH says. I think it would have been ok if it was this year, rather than 3 months before my wedding.

Re: Am I overreacting???
You should go. It will be like a dry run for your day. You can see what you liked/didnt like and let them know that for your wedding, you would like it changed.
Be the bigger person and go...maybe it is someplace that his Fiance really wanted to get married at and if she doesnt know you that well, it wouldnt matter to her if your wedding was there. Remember, when a bride has her heart set on something, we are devastated when we cant have it. Think of it as someone falling in love with the place as much as you! Remember, your day is about marrying your FH . . .

Re: Am I overreacting???
dont let it get in the way of your wedding...take it as a compliment that they are copying you...I know its annoying when you picked that place for this exact reason, so it would be a new place for your friends but that still wont take away from your day and how you feel that day...I know it matters now but on the day of your wedding it will be the furthest thing from your mind

I'd be upset but not mad.
Try to think of it as flattery - especially since they're not from LI.

Re: Am I overreacting???
honestly, i would be a little annoyed, but not going crazy. you might overracting a TEENY tiny bit.
what's good is that if you go to their wedding in march, you can critique everything, and chk out things that you liked or didn't like at theirs, compared to yours. kind of like a rehearsal for your wedding! and no two weddings are alike!
a good friend of mine, that i met more than a year ago from the knot.com , is marrying in april at the Watermill. (where i married) she attended my wedding in Feb., and she was able to realize some things that she wanted for hers or to change things. they were so happy to be at a wedding there a months and half before theirs!
when your big day happens, all you will care about is your own experience. trust me!

Re: Am I overreacting???
What bothers me is that we would have never entertained the thought of looking there, should they have booked before us. Urgh!!! I know that I'll get over it, but it does honestly bother me. Thanks for all your advice.

Re: Am I overreacting???
We went to two different weddings at the same location in one summer and they were SO different because of theme and colors and tone.
However, we did find ourselves comparing the second wedding to the first.
Is the same group of people going to be at both weddings?
There's not much you can do about it now. Sorry!

Thankfully, it's not a lot of the same people. So that's ok. Maybe about 5 couples. But it's my experience compared to theirs that I'm afraid I'll be comparing.

No, it's FH friend. I'm not really friendly with them. And thank goodness for them his friend told him when I was not standing there!

My sister planned her wedding at El Caribe..her friend booked it AFTER her....but for a closer date. My sister was cool about it but the girl had the same things my sister had. She was cool with it...you will have diffrent guests.
