Am I suppose to invite. . . . ?

Am I suppose to invite. . . . ?

My best friend in a BM in my wedding. I am wondering if I am suppose to invite her parents? I know them very well, I've been to there house a hundred times, and they often invite me over for family b-day parties and things like that, (same with her grandparents). I will be inviting my bestfriends sister and her DH, since we are friends and she invited me to her wedding a few years ago. But am I required to invite parents of a friend or even her grandparents? What do you suggest? It would save money to not have 4 extra people to invite, but would it be rude considering I know them so well to not invite them?

I have seen it both ways. It depends how close you are to them. There are many factors. It's not necessarily etiquette, but how you feel. Do you want them to be part of your big day or do you feel like you have to?

I think it would be a nice gesture to invite them.

I did. Both of my MOHs I've known for a significant period of time. I grew up in their homes so its only fitting they should be a part of my day. If you have no relationship with them, then dont feel compelled to invite them.

I am inviting parents of both my BM. Besides staying at their respective houses a zillion times over the years, one BM mom made my prom dress in HS, the other BM parents allowed me to spend 3 days at their house right before the bar exam when there were plumbing problems at my house and I was having a complete and total meltdown. After everything those 3 people have meant to me (and done for me) over the years, I can't imagine NOT inviting them.

ETA: If you have that kind of relationship with them, invite them, if not, don't.

I've known my best friend since I was 12 so I grew up with them knowing me, it only seems right. If you know them well definitely invite them!

I totally agree with this. We invited 3 sets of friends parents. All of them have been very kind and supportive of us through the years. I think you just have to follow your heart on this one, don't do it out of obligation.

I invited the parents of 4 out of 5 of my BMs because I've known them all for more than 10 years and have slept in each of their homes and raided their refrigerators many, many times. I know my best friend's parents would have been insulted if I didn't invite them.

Yes, I'd say invite them. My BF is my MOH and I've known her parents forever. Even though I only see them maybe once a year now, they're still invited. They were part of my childhood!

I said maybe before I read your post, silly me.

Anyway, I think you should invite them. I invited the parents of 4 of my 8 BMs, and only one couple ended up coming (one couple was going to come, but had to back out at the last minute because of the republican convention). I don't know that you need to invite her grandparents, but the relationship you seem to have with her parents sounds like the type that warrants an invite.

I invited only one of the three BMs parents. I have known that set of parents since I was 15 and have been over thier house hundreds of times, spent hollidays and gone on vacation with them. So they were inviteed. The other two I have only met a couple of times and they live out of state so they were not invited. However, had they been local and I knew them better I would have invited them too.

Honestly, i don't think you have to at all. If you are extremely close to them and would feel like something is missing if they are not there, then absolutely invite them, but if you invite them just becasue you think you should, I say don't . I am not iviting any of my friends parents, my parents were not invited to anyones friends weddings, and that goes for my friends, my sisters friends, and my brothers friends. I am sure they would understand too if thy werent invited. My FH on the other hand is inviting 2 of his friends parents, only because he feels like something would be missing if they weren't there.

Don't let anyone talk you in or out of it.... do what you feel.

I invited my MOH's parents and brother. My MOH's brother is part of our group of friends and I've known her parents since we were 13. My MOH's house was the house we always hung out at growing up, and we were all close to her parents. My MOH's parents also hosted my bridal shower. I think whether you invite her parents depends on the kind of relationship you have with them. Don't feel obligated to invite them. You're not required to invite them, but if you have a good relationship with them, it would be a nice gesture.

Thanks ladies, I think that I will invite them considering that I am close enough with them. I'm still kind of on the wall about inviting her Grandparents. But thatnks for the advice.

It really depends on how close you are with them, if you are always over there and they consider you like family then yes you should invite them.
