No you are not ! FH & I are using the place cards from the rh - All of the little things add up and I can not see spending money on something that gets tossed in the trash.

There is no law out there that you have to use holders!!! FH and I at Christmas time got these Picture frames we are gonna put them in there!! This way they kinda get 2 favors in one!!!..:)

I bought holders..kinda wish I hadn't. they are beautiful, but cost $$ and I think they're completely not necessary!!

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
I was going to do the tent cards the RH gave and then I fell in love with the silver bell holder. So LeslieMike actually helped me out there .

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
i used nothing but what they gave me. I had a floral arrangement on the placecard table (which was the piano) and that's it.
When you look back on your wedding 25 years from now - you will NOT CARE about your placecards or holders - i promise!

If my RH's didn't have a fox on them, I'd use them. I am not fond of a scary animal on my placecards.
My placecard holders are also my favors, though, and I figured they would do double duty!
i wasn't crazy about my RH placecards either, otherwise i would have used them. i bought the printable plain perforated tent ones and just used those

as you know - i had concerns about that too - but Dave liked the fox, they were small & not OVERBEARING. I think they looked nice...
instead of the holders, you can decorate the placecards to add a little something.. but then again, looking at hte bigger picture, ppl will just throw out the placecards after they find their seats any way.. so why bother.. ? haha

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
we had matching ones (to our invites and tahnk yous) but thats because they threw it in there for free- otherwise i would have used my RH ones and my mom also hand wrote the names- im not about spending money on small things like that....

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
i might be in the minority but I love how plain placecards look with a few scattered rose petals. i did want to type ours in the fonts used on our invites, programs, menus, etc, but my orig plan was to do traditional placecards.
we ended up combingin placecards and favors, but ther is nothing wrong with doing regular placecards

I'm not using holders. We are spending enough money everwhere else. I dont think most people keep the placecards either. Don't feel bad about it!

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
I'm not crazy about the placecards from my RH, so I bought the Gartner Studios printable ones at AC Moore, not expensive at all, and I'm DIYing them. No holders, just folded nicely and I'm going to have our RH put them on top of the piano in our CH room.

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
Im not even sure what I am using but they are only used for like a second...who keeps them anyway...don't worry about it!!!! I have even seen someone put all the names on one big paper and frame it and your guests just look up their name and go to their table.....does that make sense to you....something like this:
Table 1 Guest 1 Guest 2 Guest 3
Table 2 and so on.....
You can get really nice paper and a nice frame and call it a day if it is really bothering you to use the place cards the RH gives you

I agree! That's what I'm doing too, since my FH does not like the idea of favors- we are doubling up on usage :)

You are definitely not being cheap. I did that and my sister handwrote them also (I was going to, but she wanted to save me time).

Those are really nice, actually. Kind of different, very classy and they look very pretty in the pictures! Mine were more basic, but they came out good in the pictures, too.

You're not cheap...you're frugal! I used FREE seashells from the clam restaurant and had a friend write on them. I think it cost me all of $5

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE....
I am debating on using the ones RH gave us or getting the plain ones and printing them out. I might just use the RH ones- I don't feel like spending more money.
