Am I too jealous?

Original post by camposal

FH recently moved to Michigan and has few friends there. So when someone offers to go out, he jumps on it. Anyway, last night a single female co-worker asked him to go out for a drink. That didn't bother me. However, afterward he went back to her place and stayed there till 4 AM. Well today when he told me about it, I was really annoyed. I would never go to a guys place alone and stay till 4 AM. I have never met this girl and know nothing about her. Perhaps if we knew eachother, I wouldn't care.

What do you girls think? Would you be bothered by FH at girls place till 4 AM when you dont know her?

I don't want to upset you more, but I would be enraged....and so would my FH if it were the other way around!

Re: Am I too jealous?

how would he feel if you hung out with a single co-worker until 4am by yourselves??

that is disrespectful to you and you shouldnt feel jealous - but rather pissed!

Re: Am I too jealous?

not only would i be bothered, i would put my foot down and say No way jose!!! i know he's lonely in a new place by himself, but he needs to understand your point of view. and you should tell him to put himself in your shoes...would he like it if you stayed in a strange mans house until 4am??? i think not!!!

ohh Heeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllll no.

They were ALONE? UH-uh .. I would literally KILL him through the phone. There is no reason an engaged man and a single woman need to be hanging out till 4 am. What were they doing?

Re: Am I too jealous?

thats a typical male shovenist pig answer.......be careful.....I'm just surprised he even told you about going back to her apartment, usually guys keep that side of themselves a secret.........
Why would he even do that?
and no you're not jealous you're just normal and he's totally wrong. So before you take the plunge make sure you can trust him 100 percent.

Re: Am I too jealous?

although i agree with what you are all saying, i have to just say that at least he was honest, it's always a good thing when they are honest. my fiancee has told me a few things about hanging out with single girls too, sometimes you would rather not know but also in a way it's a good thing they are telling u straight out.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Ask him how he would feel if the roles were reversed.

This is very Unacceptable behavior..
I would want a drink I think you need a drink jusy by him thinking it is OK

I would ask him, how is it different ? If you were with a guy does he think he another guy would take advantage of you ? The girl he was hanging out with till 4 am can just as much claim he took advantage of her ?

Also what is a Pre-Married Man staying out till 4 am with an unknown girl ?

I say he should make this up to you.....

yes, I would be very bothered. it's one thing to trust each other, but at 4am after drinks that is not a good situation for your FH to put himself in.

ditto!

Re: Am I too jealous?

Sorry in advance, this is kind of long. . . and I think this subject is about more than whether you or I should/would be pi$$ed . . .

I don't want to be a serious downer. . . but is there any chance that he may not be as happy with the idea of the engagement and forever together? That maybe things in your relationship aren't as perfect as you'd like to think? Not that it isn't salvageable, but it might need more work than just brushing something under the rug. Here's a moment of absolute honesty from me. . . almost three years ago my FH and I were going through a difficult time where our expectations for our relationship were not in sync and it led to a lot of disappointment and resentment on my part (which I tended to keep to myself in order to maintain some semblance of peace and happiness) . . . and a not so innocent indescretion by me--a single night which began innocent but after a few drinks and a friend who egged me on, turned into a venting of all my hurt/dissappointment/anger/resentment and resulted in a devastating realization the morning after. . . I tried to brush it off while also trying to figure out what it meant. . .ultimately (1 week later) it came out. . . and FH left me. HOWEVER, after a little time we talked. . . really, honestly talked to one another about things which had been festering for me (he had a wife whom he was separated from but was dragging out the divorce so we weren't moving forward, etc.) In the year following it we came to realize that the way we were before would surely have led to disaster. . .that sometimes relationships need more honesty and work than you think. . . and ultimately I think I did what I did out of hurt. . . but also hoping to just end the state of limbo we had been in. In the end, we are a much stronger and happier couple. . . we understand one another more. .. respect one another more. . . care for one another more . . . and truly value each other more.

Maybe your FH is completely innocent and nothing happened that night. . . but in all honesty, I can't help but wonder if it is a small way of testing boundaries. . . testing your love for him. . . and testing his love for you . . . whatever it is, it is something which should not be taken lightly and just brushed off. Instead it should be talked about and thought about . . . it should be understood by both of you and ultimately maybe it will make you come back to one another stronger, healthier and happier to be by each other's side forever.

Good Luck. . .
