that people at a wedding should not take off their shoes. After all we are adults, not at a sweet-16, and we should buy shoes that are comfortable wearing.right???
I think the thought of seeing someone barefoot at a wedding is TACKY & GROSS!!!

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
UGH, I feel the same way! I told my BM's they were allowed to pick out their own shoes provided they wore them (or at least ballet slippers) all night! I HATE stocking or bare feet at functions - such a no-no. Buy a pair of flats/slippers to change into if you know your shoes/feet are that bad!

I think I am going to ask my manicurist where she gets the slippers she uses for pedicures, leave a big old basket in the bathroom and tell ppl hey if your feet hurt then put these on but do not walk around with out shoes

I feel that it is gross.. but I know it is going to happen. I have never been to an event where it has not. Even weddings at top class halls I have seen it. I just hope and pray my girls find comfortable shoes..

I'm supplying slippers as well.. I feel like it can get painful in your shoes... It's very hard to find cute comfortable shoes.. I HATE FEET!!!!!!!!!! So if their feet hurt put on the slippers..

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
yeah I had a guest at our e-party (who I don't care for anyway) dancing barefoot and it showed her 'class',,,or shall I say LACK OF IT!my MOH mention shoes that are cute, but cheaply made and that she could slip in and out of them through out the night...what, no slipping in and out and dirty feet, EWE!!! So i mentioned to her to think about the quality of the shoes she picks ana comfort for all day!

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
I think JZNCK has a great idea with supplying flip flops, for the guest. A lot of people want to look great at weddings, usually not realizing that 5 hours later they may not be as comfortable! There have been so many times that I have had to take my shoes off because of blisters! But I still wanted to have fun and dance.

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
I must agree with you! When people dance barefoot at formal functions I think it is totally tacky, it is a major pet peeve of mine. I've already mentally prepared myself to see this at my wedding, what can you do? I know it won't be from anyone in my BP or any of my close family and friends, they all know how I feel about this. Buy comfortable shoes that you can handle wearing all evening! End of story.

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
Personally I don't care. As long as your feet are not stinky or callous ridden or chipped nail polish whatever they want to do is fine by me.Actually now that I read hearbellz post, yeah it is a bit unhygenic. But I can't run around telling people not to take their shoes off at the wedding. I will hope they won't now.

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
I think it's gross...but if your feet hurt that much and you need to take your shoes off, go right ahead!!! I'd rather the guests dancing the night (or day in my case) away, then sitting down because they couldn't take their shoes off.I'm sure people at my wedding had their shoes off...and I didn't even notice. I didn't even notice that my Mom took her shoes off and changed into slippers until I saw some of our wedding pictures!!!
I just think that if it makes people happier to have their shoes off, then they should come off.

Yeah, I dont like it either and I live my life barefoot, especially in teh summer time, but at weddings and formal occasions, man.its tacky, I think people think they are cute when they do it and it annoys teh hell out of me!!

Re: am I wrong with this....Barefoot at a wedding reception
Obviously I am in the minority here, but I could care less who wants to take their shoes off at my wedding....A couple of people did and that was b/c they were dancing so much and had such a great time (not to mention we had an 8 hr. reception, 6pm-2am).
If it makes them more comfy....go right ahead....I would not think any less of them b/c they made and error in judgement about the shoes they picked....

I polled who cares because I wouldn't stop people from doing it and I think it's more inappropriate than I think it's EEEEW!
