We went to Rome first. We stayed at Piranessi it waw expensive and the rooms were tiny but it was in the middle of everything. Then we sent to Positano for a week. We stayed at Le Agavi you have no idea of the views. We loved it. You must go. I had a client that stayed there and his daughter went there on her honeymoon. I'll try and get some pics up for you.

We did italy for our honeymoon. We flew into Venice, then Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. I would be more than happy to give you the names of the hotels we stayed at and any info you would like, just let me know. It was an amazing honeymoon.

I am in the midst of planning the same honeymoon! Tomorrow our TA will give us more info since we decided to drop Venice and stay in Rome (and visit Florence from there)1 week and then head over to the Amalfi coast for 1 week. So far the hotels she gave me were the Hotel Oxford in Rome and the Best Western in Positano and I just forgot the third one! But the views from both in Positano were amazing!

Let me know if you have more suggestions!

How many days did you stay in Italy for?

We only want to stay like 12 days the most, but were told that wasnt enough time to visit all the places and enjoy them?

Esp the added cost of hotels?

Any advice?

We where in Italy for 13 days. We actually thought we enjoyed every city and in the amount of time. We did 3 nights in Venice, 2 nights in Florence (which we should have added one more night there because 2 nights definately wasn't enough time) 3 nights in Rome and 4 nights at the Amalfi Coast. Looking back we definately would have taken a night away from Amalfi and added it in Florence. Amalfi is nice and all but every little town over there looked the same and after the second day we got bored. As far as the hotels, yea we payed alot but hey, who knows if we will ever go back and it's our honeymoon so why not go all out :) that's my opinion at least.

Thanks! I agree on going all out because its our HM and who knows when we or if we will ever go back! We def want to be back within 10-12 days to get back into our schedules and to work refreshed and not needing another vacation!

Re: Amalfi Coast??

We went to the same places on our HM, as well as Florence.

For the Amalfi Coast, we stayed in Sorrento which was my favorite city. It was a small charming city with a lot of romantic ambiance (to me, more romantic than Venice) and the pizza was INCREDIBLE - the best on the whole trip! We also visited Amalfi, Positano and Ravello while staying in Sorrento. Ravello was awesome, it is known for their annual music festival which has a stage high up in the mountains overlooking the coast. The pics were have of it are incredible, though I have yet to add it to my albums here on LIW.

We stayed at the Hotel Continental in Sorrento. I believe it was a four star hotel, it had a pretty decent view of the bay and it was within in walking distance to everything. Sorrento is such a fun city...at night everyone is out late partying, and there are a lot of American and British tourists so you'll feel at home.

In Rome our hotel was five star and the service was excellent, but it was too far away from everything. We stayed at the Aldrovandi Palace...the closest thing to it is the Spanish steps, but there are plenty of hotels closer to the Spanish steps than this one.

In Venice we stayed at the Kette Hotel, which we enjoyed. It was very close to St. Mark's Square which is a very cool spot to hang out. I recommend at least one night in Venice that you go to St. Mark's Square at night for dessert...sit in one of the many outdoor cafe's where there are live string quartets/quintets. Very romantic.

FM me if you need any other advice on Italy.

Re: Amalfi Coast??

My FH and I finally met with a great travel agent who has geared us in the right direction. We are doing Venice (Hotel Danielli), Rome (Splendide Royale), Sardinia (La Coluccia--for some relaxation) and Almafi Coast (staying at the Santa Caterina in Almafi....it has an elevator from hotel on cliff to beach).....I am so excited about our HM...we will have the best of both worlds...sightseeing and some beach and relaxation....

The Hotel Danielli is beautiful, we weren't too far from their when we stayed in Venice and also stayed at the Santa Caterina in Almafi, you are going to love it. You will not believe how high you are once you get into the elevator and go down to the ocean :)
