Re: Amityville Horror House
They totally changed the look of it so that it doesn't look like the house anymore. I am looking but I am not sure I remember what it looks like now.

We used to drive by it when we were kids and freak ourselves out! It was a very pretty house if I remember correctly and right by the water.

Re: Amityville Horror House
I grew up in Massapequa and we used to drive by it all the time when we were teenagers. It was a pretty street - but they changed the look of it long ago. I still dont know if I could buy a house where all those murders occured even if it isnt haunted. It was a nice street near the water tho.

Re: Amityville Horror House
My aunt & uncle live around the block from the house. It looks nothing like it does in the movie. But it is a rather pretty home.

112 Ocean Avenue, south of Merrick Road Amityville, NY
I'd be too spooked to live in that house...even though it really is gorgeous!!!

I never saw the movie so I doubt I'd be too spooked to live in it. However I just know DH will always do some practical joke to scare me.

In 1974 Ronald DeFoe killed his parents and his 4 siblings in the house. A year after, a couple with small children moved into the house and began experiencing 'paranormal' things in the house - ghosts, green ooze dripping from the ceiling, doors coming off hinges, voices, etc ... They quickly left and a book was written and numerous movies have been made about it.
If you type into google 'Amityville Horror' a TON of stuff will come up regarding the original murders, the people who lived there afterwards, the book, and the movies ... a lot of it is debated even today - truth vs. hoax.

The house is so pretty. What a shame. It must be so difficult to live there with all the publicity.
