An interesting scenario...what would you do??

Original post by ItalianBride428

Hi ladies, I have been MIA due to a lot of stuff at work but I have some free time again and I am looking foward to posting more!!

I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss:

so, FH and I recently found out that one of our couple friends who have been married for over a year are getting divorced...

FH and I new something was up because when things arent working out between them, they 'disappear'.

The husband ( FH childhood friend) called and told him he packed up his stuff, met with a lawyer and filed for divorce....never wants to see or hear from her again...and is letting her keep pretty much everything except the car and a few other things....

Turns out, he got a phone call from his soon to be ex brother in law who told him that his wife has been cheating on him with a guy at work since two months after they were married!!!!
She even had the nerve to bring this guy ( who is also married with 2 kids) to her parents and sisters house introducing him as her boyfriend!??!!

FH friend works midnights for the NYPD so she would sneak this guy home while her husband was at work!!!! To top it all off, the reason why he was at work so much is because she wanted this huge wedding and he was working overtime because they had so much debt left over!

so here are my questions:

1) if you knew someone was cheating on their husband/wife would you spill the beans?

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

Unless the person being cheated on was a really close friend or family member of mine I wouldn't get involved

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

No I know FH and I are meant to be together so I would never act on it

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

Luckily for me I am a divorce lawyer. If he did that he would be in big trouble

I like to joke about these things bec I dont like to think of things like this. Yes its reality to some but its scary to others. I would be devastated. I will leave him, get a divorce and move on to someone better. He would just have to live with what he did and feel horrible for the rest of his life that he lost someone really really good

Something similar happened to my sister....she got married (after dating a guy for 7 years) and less than 3 months after they got married, she found out he was cheating on her. She moved out and then she and him went to a marriage counselor but in the end my sister couldnt get past it. I wouldnt mind it but my sister is super hot and one of the most amazing people in this world. Needless to say they are divorced and he is getting married in april to the girl he swore he wasnt sleeping with...(that disgusting girl was married too...nice eh?!) So to answer your questions: (1) yes i would tell the person (2) i would re-evaluate why i was getting married and why im feeling the way that i am? Is it an innocent attraction or am i using the attraction to cover up not wanting to get married? (3) i would be out the door!! I value myself too much to let someone walk all over me! Im very sorry for FH's friend!!

wow. I am so glad your sister had enough self esteem to honor her feelings...some people get scared and deny the fact they cant get passed it.

This couple was even living together for 4 years before they got married!

It took her awhile....they had a house and everything together so it was a huge downer for her but she is back in school to get her doctorate an doing really well for herself. Plus i was able to find out thru a mutual friend that he is still cheating on this other girl. Once a jerk, always a jerk.

1) if you knew someone was cheating on their husband/wife would you spill the beans?

Defintely depends who it is and the situation. I don't think anyone deserves to be cheated on, and if someone IS cheated on - I think they deserve to know. Its just a matter of whether or not its my place to do the telling. . ..

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

If I had feelings for someone else? Yeah, if they were strong feelings. . .attracted to someone, like physically? No, I think that it is normal to notice good looking people. (even though I only notice FH awwwwwwwwwwwww)

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

Divorce him. I have no patience for cheaters. Been there, done that and it hurts too much and its too hard to forgive.

If my FH cheated I'd be DONE.

Maybe I would send the guy an anonymous note telling him to swing by his apartment sometime during his shift... see if he could 'find out' about her cheating himself...

Yes. No one should have to look stupid because someone can't keep it in their pants. Cheating is WRONG, and you get what you deserve if someone tattles on you.

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

Absolutely.

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

i cannot answer 2 AND 3 just yet
however, in reference to number 1

NO, i would not tell if i knew (Unless it was my sister)

I would stay out of it because in the end; the couple wind up 'working things out' and then look at you as the snitch for getting involved

Re: An interesting scenario...what would you do??

that is so horrible!

if i knew someone was cheating, i would confront the cheater and give them a day to confess. if they didnt, i would have to tell their spouse. i friend doesn't always tell you want you want to hear, they tell you what you need to hear.

you are always going to be attracted to other people. its whether or not you act on that attraction. i find a few of FHs friends attractive, but i'd NEVER jeopardize my life with FH for any of them. guys are hot, but no one compares to the guy i have.

if FH was cheating on at any point i'd be heart broken. if it was a one time deal and he was remorseful i'd try to get past it and work it out with him. if it was an ongoing affair we'd have to separate. thats a disrespect i couldnt get past

YUP!!!!!!! exactly my reason...people say well the person deserves to know, think about the person first bc many of them believe it or not DONT want to know and even those who say they would want to know, when the situation becomes real they realize they would've preferred not knowing.

A similar thing happened to a friend of mine.

She had been living with her boyfriend for about 3 years and had been BEGGING him to propose to her...I witnessed her beggings with my own eyes and ears. He waited until he found a steady job befor he proposed. Well, about a month or two before her weding she attended a friend's wedding in Montreal and she met a British guy who she apparently fell in love with in one night. She kept in touch with this guy, even visited him once before her wedding (under the guise of going to London to do research), but she still went through with the wedding!

After the wedding, she took 2 more trips to London, all paid for by her now husband because she was still writing her dissertation and wasn't working , until he got suspicious and confronted her about this. She told him she was in love with this British guy, and her husband told her it's either him or me. Her response was...let me make another trip to London! So he let her go, and when she returned, she filed for divorce. So, she went back to London, told this other guy that she chose him and he stold her well, I don't want you now because if you did this to your husband, how do i know you won't do the same to me? Good for him!!!

So, she went back, asked for forgiveness from the guy she married, but he wouldn't take her back. Good for him!!!

i agree denise

i would just stay out of it
besides, what happens with couples behind close doors is not my business and you may think that your friend wants to know, but i would NOT be the one to tell

1) if you knew someone was cheating on their husband/wife would you spill the beans?

I don't know if I, personally, would do it, but I would like to convince someone else to spill the beans!

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

I am attracted to lots of people. I wouldn't cancel the wedding or ever cheat on my FH just because I am attracted to someone else.

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

1) if you knew someone was cheating on their husband/wife would you spill the beans?

It depends who the person is to me. If its a best friend/relative then yes I would tell. If its someone Im not close to, then its not my business.

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

Probably not. Being attracted to someone doesnt mean anything most of the time. ANd I wouldnt be getting married in the first place, if I thought I might be attracted to other people

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

Can I go on liweddings in jail?

I love your answer to number 3....i'm dying laughing right now.....

Some people obviously don't take marriage seriously, she sounds horrible!

My answers:

1) if you knew someone was cheating on their husband/wife would you spill the beans?

I tend to think I would, but depending on how close I am to these people, i'd either do it anonymously (if i'm not close with them) or face to face (if I am close with them)

2) would you stop the wedding if you thought you were attracted to someone else?

The fact that I even allowed myself to get attracted to someone else to the point where I am questioning marrying FH would prove that i'm not ready for marriage...it's natural to be attracted to other people physically, but if you're making it such a big deal and focusing on someone else THAT much, that's a definite red flag that you're not ready for marriage....

3) if you found out FH was cheating on you after you got married...what would you do??

It depends on the extent of how he was cheating on me...I would do anything in my power to keep my marriage intact as long as it's not beyond the point of repair.....

Very well said i agree cuz ill do same thing

That poor guy! my heart goes out to him! and I feel like he is soooo much better off!!

1. I would probably have to tell them if in fact I saw it with my own eyes, I wouldn't gossip about it though incase it wasn't true ya know?

2. Attracted to someone else? I guess it depends, if I knew I would cheat on him then yes! but if I thought it was just cause they were goodlooking or something so stupid then no, becasue I LOVE FH not just for his looks lol

3. I would divorce his ***! lol
