Her sister in law just facebook commented me with a dress she order for FMIL. It is a beautiful dress! FMIL is a big women and not everything flatters her. HOWEVER the dress that was purchased for her is Champagne but looks sooooooo light!
WHat to you girls think? I already said its a very light color and its going to look similar to mine (ivory dress) in pictures and in person.
I dont want to be a bridezilla but seriously????????

not sure how I would feel about it. i guess you can't really do anything about it since it's already been ordered.
i know when my cousin told me she was wearing an 'off-white' dress to my wedding i got annoyed.

Hmm I'd say maybe wait until you see it in person, I feel like colors can look very different online sometimes
ETA: I do agree with you though. In this pic, the dress looks totally white to me.

I am trying to figure out a way to tell her. She wasnt the one who told me - her sister in law told me she ordered the dress so I dont know if I should continue the conversation with her or go to FMIL.
aaaaaa
I just did a snapshot my her dress and mine next to eachother and I dont like it!! Too similar

I am wearing Ivory and my FMIL wants the same exact color ...not only did I feel it was a little too light, champagne is also one of my colors I am using!! Sooooo I had FH tell her that if she didn't want to look part of the BP, it was in her best interest to pick a different color. She got mad and said she will wear black

Champaign is a light gold color...its very pretty, will blend in with ivory and won't clash or anything. My mom actually mentioned about getting that color for herself.

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
I am just giving you advice, not being mean or anything..but really, does it matter? My FMIL paid 200 less than my wedding dress for her MOG dress. It has a small train.
Does it bother me? Nope. I am SO happy she is excited and happy for me and FH (and this is his second marriage).
I know how it may irk youm but in the grand scheme of things..again, not starting trouble...JMO

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
I agree - but I dont want it to blend in with ivory. Thats the issue. LOL
My mother was looking at Champagne originally but we decided it was too light of a color and too similar to my ivory dress. I understand I will stand out no matter but but no light colors should be worn aside from the bride. If it was GOLD GOLD then that's an entirely different story and she is welcome to wear the dress.

I totally agree with you. I don't want to start trouble - if it will i will back off but I know the dress can be returned. FMIL hasnt been excited - or at least shown it to me ever. But she has not been mean or bad about it either. She's just living her life.
I don't mind if the dress would have had a train on it - the fact that she is going to be standing next to me in sooo many pictures and we are going to look like were wearing the same color bothers me. That is the one day I want to stand out. (usually I am not the center of attention type of person). I have not been a bridezilla about anything but I personally think this color is a little too close for comfort. There are soo many plus size dresses that are nice in a darker color. I dont know -we'll see what happens.
But I do appreciate your opinion.

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
totally understandable...
can you talk to her about it?
or do you feel it will start things off badly?
BTW: My sister wants to wear black and mother is freaking lol

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
I am going to see her on Tuesday so we will see what happens. I am going to mention it to her and say 'I hope you understand'. If it means a lot I will back of and hopefully they can photoshop her dress into a diff color for the album! hahaha
HAHA Ye - my family opposes the bridal party to wear black also because of past incidents - they swear its bad luck.
fun for all!

I think it's fine, the color is light but it will look very different in pictures since the photographer's lighting will make your dress appear bolder and shimmery. The contrast of the dresses will look a bit slightly different. I wouldn't worry too much over the colors. It looks more silver to me in the photo.

'The contrast of the dresses will look a bit slightly different.'
Thats for you opinion, but that's the issue - I don't want it to 'look a bit slightly different.' I want it to look different. Silver, Champagne, anything that is that light - personally, its all a no no for the parents of the bride considering all the pictures we will take will have them standing next to me while I wear my ivory dress.
Anyway, thanks for your input. I am trying to get over it but its not happening. Only avoiding a fight will make me shut up. We'll see.

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
If it were me, I definitely wouldn't be a happy camper. I don't want anyoneeee wearing white, ivory or really anything that is too light. No blending with the bride

Re: And the FMIL Dress Drama begins
That is definitely too close of a close to ivory. If you were wearing a white gown, there would be a greater contrast, but in this case it looks way too similar.
Does this dress come in other colors? What's your color scheme?
