Angry at how I was treated. Kinda long

Hello ladies..

I just came from my FIRST EVER meeting with a reception hall and was so disappointed. I made an appointment on Sunday of last week for tonight at 7:30 pm to sit down and talk about packages they offer. I called at 5:30 pm and confirmed it and they said 'Sure, have you right here, look forward to seeing you'.

WELL.. I go down there with my mom, future mother in law. We walk in and the woman is sitting with someone else which is fine because I was early. Anyway, long story short, Another couple was there before me. So I waited for 20 minutes to be acknowledged and she comes over and says I will be with you shortly I have to give a tour, plus these people are ahead of you. Okay I say and I wait. She comes back after 15 mintues and says, mam did you have an appointment. I say yes I did, she tells me she does not see my name and that I OBVIOUSLY did not have an appointment. I said to this women that I called at 5:30 and spoke with so and so and confirmed. She turns to me and says, oh yes, I remember you spoke to me, I am sorry but I am too busy tonight and plus that person is ahead of me, can I reschedule?

Well, end of story I tell her that I do not need another appointment. I felt if that is how she treats people interested in booking, how does she treat the people once they have your deposit.

I don't want to post the name of the place for fear of this post being edited. I will be more than happy to FM anyone with the name should you be interested. The reception hall was in Suffolk county.

Thanks for letting me vent. I just hope that this was a bad start to my planning, I can't imagine the whole wedding planning being this disappointing.

That's really rude. Don't worry, most places are much better than that.

That is totally obsurd!!!! I would call and complain to her manager! What a waste of your time!!! & your families! People can be rude... & some in this business, you wonder how they can hold a job? ugh! I'm mad for you!

Sorry that you had to go through that. You did the right thing by not making another appt with that hall... That was very rude!

Don't get discouraged! You will see many halls. Some of the Banquet managers will bend over backwards and some won't.. how they make you feel is part of the decision... I went to one hall and they basically threw me a video and said if you like the video come back another time.. For the most part most places will be very helpful and more attentive then this hall you went to.. Good luck!!!

I hope it goes better than tonight.. I left feeling embarassed that I thought this was a place I may want my wedding and that my mom and future MIL had to see that.

We had a meeting like that once and did the same thing you did.

Sorry for the bad experience but at least you learned now and not when it really counts.

Aw honey, I am sorry u were treated this way. Look at it this way, at least u know how they are now as oppossed to if u had booked them. Look elsewhere, you'll find something u love.

That is so uncalled for. You did the right thing by walking out!

I had the same experience at a place in Suffolk county too! It was for an engagement party. After we booked, everytime we went in (3 times) they couldn't find our names, whether we had the date, etc. It was a nightmare! I vowed never to use that hall again. The night of the party, they didn't have the dance floor ready and had to scramble 10 minutes before it started. I know tons of girls love the place, but I think they are completely disorganized!

Sorry that happened to you. Take it as a sign and don't book there!

Sorry you had a bad experience. These things are supposed to be fun and exciting.

You did the right thing by not rescheduling. My FI and I had a long engagement so we went to a lot of places. If they were more than 20 minutes late without a good excuse, ignored us or had a bad attitude we put them on the NO WAY list. It is important to be totally confident in the place you choose. You don't want to have any concerns with their competance th day of the wedding.

I would definetly call her manager and let them know how you were treated and that they lost your business. If you are looking for a nice hall, check out mine, Larkfield Manor. I had a wonderful experience with them. Frank is the Banquet Manager and he is so nice. He must deal with so many couples but he always seems to remember me when I call. They are in East Northport. Their website does not do the place justice. It is so much nicer in person.

You have no idea how grateful I am for the support. I told my fiance the story last night after I got off the boards and he was furious. (Thankfully he was not there!!)
