Annoyed/Stressed
So I work 2 jobs. One early AM and one afternoon. I nanny and it has been great pay BUT I come to find out that the early AM job will be OFF for the summer so that is like 2 months off so NO pay from that. I then come to find out that my afternoon job come September may not exist or be minimal hours. I am so freaking annoyed. Even if I keep the early AM job and just accept the two months off (which with paying for a wedding is going to be stressful) it still doesn't ensure that my income will be guaranteed come September. I HATE HATE HATE looking for a job. Ugh.

I feel your pain. I'm working part time (30-35 hours a week) at a restaurant, and I've been ready for a full time job for the past year or so. I've applied to any and every job I'm semi-qualified for, and have only had less than 10 call backs. It's frustrating. In regard to your job dilemma, as much as you may like your jobs or hate job hunting, there are always families looking for experienced nannies. I've considered it, and looked into becoming a nanny, but no one wants an inexperienced person, even if I have worked with children before. I'm sure you could apply to all those jobs. Try indeed.com
Hope this helps!!

I just went through this! Soon2BeMrsPy remember we were discussing the baby sitting? I finally got a call back and just got a job (at a limo company none the less!)and I miss serving in a restaurant, there is NO easier money on the planet but the hours just don't work for me and FH although I will probably pick up some night/weekend shifts during the 2 summers before our wedding.

That was one of the worst parts about being a nanny!Have you thought about working at a daycare for the summer? I know when I worked there they were always looking for extra workers for the day camps and stuff!

I feel ya!!! I am a teacher and am actually leaving my job at the vacation- i HATE teaching, I am going back to my old job- there is no difference in pay, just different hours/ different type of work...I'm going to back to being a service coordinator for people with disabilities...Honestly, its non for profit but the benefits and flexibility are amazing, so while its not a ton of money, its good pay and an awesome job...i cannot wait to go back! :)
keep your head up!! try applying to AHRC Nassau for a direct support professional position- they have awesome hours (flexible- can work any shift) and great benefits! :) great for a second job!

I can relate, this is the worst part about being a nanny. I was dealing with this last summer and it was the worst. As of now I'm only working PT this summer too - ugh. Everything will work out, look on sittercity and care.com and you'll find the perfect family for you.

I'm basically looking for anything full time with benefits. I want to have my life on track by the time I get married in case we want to have a family right away.
And you DON'T want to work in a restaurant. Lol. While the money may be great (it can be the best hourly salary you'll ever make), it's stressful and does a number on your body and while it's not rocket science, it's just not something I'd ever tell someone they should do. (This may just me being bitter and sick of my job after 9 years. Lol)
