does anyone have? I was really set on an American car...but Dh likes this one...and it has good reviews...

I don't know much about them, but \I hate the view form behind, it is not symettrical. The emergency kit causes a bump in the back door.

I do know that my friend really wnated to get one, when she goes to get a new car, they were on a new car kick a few months ago, and looked at a bunch of SUV's and she decided on this one.

I have it...not luxury, but great truck. Drives like a truck but handles really good. I love it!!!
we're not looking for luxury...we actually need it to go over some bumpy roads and to drive on the sand...
It seems that many of the luxury ones are not 4x4 anyway
how are gas miles? safe for kids? repairs? warranty?

We have one and I love it!!! I found it to be large inside, but we had a Jeep Wrangler before so my perspective is different. So far we've had it for a year and its great. Definitely handles like a truck, but that's what FH was going for when we bought it.

the one thing that really attracts me to the wrangler is that its 'convertable' and the climate here is so great that it would come in handy

We lease ours so i dont know about the warranty.. but it definatly is a truck.. my parents have the BMW suv and its more like a car than a truck, dont get me wrong its beautiful, you just dont want to go on rough terrain with a 50K car...
Frank takes his off the road brings it for biking and what not... he loves it and its pretty big inside..
I just am havign a huge problem not buying an American car...since my last car was a VW...I feel that I should buy American

don't feel guilty Erica - if American cars were made better I'd buy more too I had a Pontiac in HS and is was the biggest piece of crap. I swore I'd never own another american car again!
I love my Honda.
I don't know too much about the Xterra, but I heard it wasn't too sturdy - when you see it check how heavy the doors are, etc.
