Another Newbie!!

Hi All!
I just got engaged on May 18th. I am very excited. Of course the problem is I live in Boston and am planning my wedding in Long Island. I want to do it next summer '09 since I work in a school and I am out of work then. I am on a strict budget about $20,000 for EVERYTHING!! I am expecting about 125 people at bare minimum. So I am looking at places about $70-85 pp before taxes. Priorities: a nice place , good food, updated decor, nice setting. I am planning to do it on a Friday night so I can afford a nicer place at a lower cost.

So if anyone out there is in this same boat please share any info you find. its so hard to plan from far away.

Check places like the Chateau Briand, Jericho Terrace, Westbury Manor, Fox Hollow, Swan Club.

One big suggestion I can offer is since you are getting married on in summer if you are flexible with you day consider a Thursday. Some of us are doing that also including myself. I have been able save money. You venue may also through in some extra stuff and give you a better deal if you book an off peak day.

i know you have school and all but doing out of season will cut costs to you

I replied on the BHB too, but Thursdays will DEF save you money if your on a tight budget, its also becoming pretty popular...

All the Hamlets are nice (a little bias to Hamlet Willow Creek!!) and The Watermill is also really nice.

I agree with looking at the Swan Club... but then again I'm biased since I'm getting married there.

Ohh yes!! I just went to a wedding at the Hamlet at the Hyatt in Hauppauge.. it was an AWESOME wedding!!!

congrats and welcome! I recommend an afternoon wedding or a thrusday night wedding. Both are pretty common among brides for the last couple of years. Actually my sorority sister just went to a wedding last sunday. There are options, you and your FH need to figure out what you guys prefer. Happy Planning!!!!
