Another Poll (sorry a lot on my mind) --- Receiving Line?
My photographer thinks I am pressed for time (which I am ) and my mom wants us to do a receiving line.
Who is not doing a receiving line?
If I decide not to - then we just leave after the ceremony? Like - down the aisle - down the stairs and go? I am so confused!!! I feel like if you don't do the RL, it messes up the whole order of things , but I don't think I have time to do one. I have an hour in between the church and cocktail hour.

I stressed out about the receiving line as well, and in the end I decided to have one. It was kind of funny because the priest thought that we were not going to have one and started to make an announcement and then FH and I were like 'NO!' Everybody was laughing when they found out the mystery announcement was only about the line.
I decided to have one just to thank all the people who came out to Coney Island to see us get married. Also, a lot of people don't come to the church, so the line is only about 10-15 minutes and if you don't have one, you just have to run into the limo or hide in a corner of the church which is kind of weird.
HTH.

i was in the SAME exact position as you... i only had an hour between the end of my Mass and the CH. and trust me, you DON'T have the time for a receiving line.
I felt bad about too... Mom thought it would be rude NOT to do one, but i just couldn't see how we would have time... and i missed just about all of my cocktail hour anyway with pics, so we really would have run over if we did the receiving line,
We finally elected NOT to do one... we had the priest announce it to everyone... it worked out because i got married in february and it was just too darn cold. we did walk out and smile and wave as there was people standing outside waiting for us and then we went quickly back in to take pics. i had my bridal party tell people to head over to the reception hall.
I don't think anyone minded honestly... and we greeted everyone at the hall anyway.

No receiving line for me. I plan on greeting my guests at cocktail hour.

We're having one but we also have a lot of time btwn church and reception. If you don't think you can fit it in, just greet guests during the CH or reception.

I am not having one. My ceremony should end at about 6:30pm leaving us with only 1/2 hour of sunlight, and since we are not taking pics beforehand, we want to get them in right after the ceremony. We will do our best to see people at the CH! HTH!

I don't know what to do we only have 45 minutes in between so we probably shouldnt but I don't know if it's rude.

I think we're going to have one because I have quite a few people who are able to come to the church but not able to come to the reception... so I just want to have a chance to say hi to them and thank them for coming, since I won't see them at the RH. But I will have about 2.5 hrs between the end of my ceremony and the beginning of cocktail hour. Since you only have one hour in between, and if most of the people at the church will also be attending the reception, then it might not be worth it for you to do it. More and more brides are skipping it now and just saying hi at the RH. When I was thinking about doing that and I told my mom, she was shocked by it and said I HAD TO have a receiving line lol, so I think it's something that used to always be done but now it's much more optional IMO.

We werent going to have one-but we had some people come to the church that didnt come to the reception-and truthfully I felt rude not doing it. We were going to greet everyone at CH but never made it to CH-but I think in essence its really up to you!

I think we are going to do a receiving line....our plan is to say hello and thank you to guests that come to the church and then attend the cocktail hour and see poeple there and then when we get to the reception, we are not going to go out of our way to say hello to people unless we really feel like it. I guess we will have to see how we feel. But we both want to party and not worry about greeting guests at the reception. I feel like if they want to see us they can come and find us.

The reason why I am, well is because we want to enjoy our wedding and that will prob. be the only time we say hello to people.
