All I know is that we went over our original budget! Trying to stay in boundaries of the revised one...

my supposed budget it $20,000...but then fil's are paying for random bits and pieces, and a lot of our deposits came out of mom's engagement gift to us, plus the money we got from our e-party... i'm guessing it's more in the 25 - 26k range at this point...

My wedding overall (without the split of what I'm paying for and what my 'rents are chipping in) is more than earn from my job in a year. On more than one occassion, that fact has FREAKED ME OUT!

We are up to 55,000 minus the honeymoon, rings, bridal attendant gifts, favors and invitations...

but we are fortunate that between both parents we are only responsible for the bridal attendent gifts and photographer......

I decided not to budget. I know I would only be wasting my time as I tend to buy what I want anyways, within reason.

My Fiance and I are paying the bill so we don't have to worry about spending our parents money and watching where it goes.

My guess is our wedding will be under $11,000 b/c we are from a small town and having a military wedding on base.....saves money.

We are determined to keep it under 40,000. So far, it looks like 37,000 with honeymoon.

We're over $60K, but that's with very generous contributions from both sets of parents. And--of course--the guest list of 300 doesn't help!!! MUST cut the guest list!!! These are MY wedding nightmares!!!

Believe me, a lot of my costs aren't by choice!!! I can't believe how much we're spending for ONE DAY either..... We had originally planned for a small destination wedding in Florida or Jamaica with 30 or 40 of our closest friends and family, unfortunately, my large italian family and FH's large jewish family wouldn't let us get away with that!! So, we comprimised on the 'water location'---with Long Island....found Land's End...and now it's the guest list that has driven the prices out of control!!! If I had it my way---me + him, white sand, clear blue water, and our promises of forever. But, two very strong families win out in the end......THAT being said---it is the wedding of a girl's dreams!!!

Original budget was $30K, right now it's seems as if we will be $40-$45K for all expenses. My parents are paying for the reception, FH parents are paying for the HM, and FH and I are paying for just about everything else (my parents are paying for some of my bridal attire).

Yeah, this wedding this is alot of $, but FH and I are not putting ourselves in debt over it. We saved and planned for it. If I had to spend a whole lot of $ on any day I would prefer it to be the day that I celebrate the love between FH and I.

Some people choose to spend the $ and some people don't. As long as you're happy on your day and afterwards you're okay with your decision, then it's all good.

i am in the exact same situation! fh and i were planning a small destination wedding in nevis until my italian family and his jewish family started complaining about this and that and driving us CRAZY... so we decided to have our wedding here, which is costing SO much more, but that's what my mother (who is paying) wanted. don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining , but it's not what i had originally planned at all.

A house is good too. FH and I are sort of in limbo since I have 1-2 more years until I get my PhD. We're just going to save $$ and once I graduate we will buy a house to wherever we move?

Are you planning to buy a house soon? If so, where? My sister was looking to buy a house, but real estate in NY is so expensive right now (and chicago for that matter). My father ended up giving her one of the apartments in the other house that he owns since she wanted to move out. I hate paying rent, but at the same time I know I'm not ready to own right now...

i cant buy a house for another 4-5 years... but thats ok, b/c i will probably want to be still living in the city. (hopefully a nice manhattan apt soon)..... i dont know where i want to settle. i wont know for a few years yet.
i want to get pregnant when im like 25, so a house by then would be a good thing!

Pregno, by 25?? I'll be 25 in 6 months. I want to have kids in like the next 3 years. I get scared though. It seems as if everyone focuses on the baby and not the parents. I guess when the time is right, I'll get over it. I was actually thinking about baby names this morning.

FH and I were saying that living in mangatten for 1 year would probably be fun, but we would probably get sick of it since we can probably only afford a studio.
