Another reception hall question...

Can you get a price quote or info on minimums over the phone? I don't want to be tacky, but I also don't want to waste my time driving all over creation to halls that are too big, too small or too expensive!

I did the same thing, I just didnt want to waste anyone's time, including my own. I asked for a rough estimate of how much it would be and what their minimum was. Most people told me, but others asked what my budget was and told me if they were (or werent) within my budget.

some places will give it to you over the phone others won't. i think if you tell them the budget that is a good idea but don't completely rule a place out--you might be able to bargain a little or guarantee more people for a lower price.

I found that some places did not want to give $$s over the phone, but many did if I said, 'can you just give me a ballpark number for a Sunday in November?' We booked the church first, so we had that date and then just called catering halls to see if the date was available. Most of them were willing to tell me, because I already had a date in mind.

Some places won't want to give you a price over the phone but you can usually get them to. It's never hurts to try.
