DH and I did the speech at the wedding. We wanted to talk about and thank our guests rather than have them sit through boring speeches about us

Re: Any brides giving a speech at the reception ?
We'll probably each say a thank you at the RD but when it comes to talking at the reception we'll leave it as a one-on-one thing at the tables, not in front of everyone...I get nervous when I speak in public and end up repeating myself over and over and sounding like an idiot

Re: Any brides giving a speech at the reception ?
i'm surprised at all the ladies here who are saying they'd be 'too nervous'! after having the attention on you all day and people fawning over you, i'd think it would be easy to make a speech.
we didn't have an RD, so DH and i decided to make a speech right after we cut the cake and ppl were having dessert. it was simple...nothing fancy. we just asked the DJ to give us a mic and the two of us told everyone we thanked them all for coming and celebrating the best day of our lives with us.

I am! and I want FH to say something too. This is the last time we'll be in NY and seeing family for a while since we're moving so I want to say somethig special.
