Yes! I've been there once before. It's beautiful! Good idea! Where else could we go in two weeks?

Anyone ever been to Georgia or the Carolinas?

FH and I are taking a road trip down to Disney World in Orlando... He has a convertible so it'll be fun! Can't wait! If you're not into Disney, Cape Cod is wonderful and (I agree) Lake George is great too!

Savannah is absolutely unbelievable. I got engaged there. And we drove because there was an ice storm and we couldn't fly out. Amazing. It's not far - 13 hours is what it should take, took us 17 because of weather and roadblocks - and it's close to Charleston, SC. You could go to Savannah and Tybee Island (off the coast, never been but I have heard it's amazing), for 5-6 days, then to Charleston for a few days, and then to Myrtle Beach, SC on your way back north. All places are great, but Savannah takes the cake.

Now *I* want to go!!!!! October is a great time of year to go to those places too, fantastic weather, probably in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

No but I wish we were. FH grandparents and aunts are doing one in Aug. They are flying to Colorado and driving for like three weeks. They are going to Yellowstone and to the Grandcanyon. (I actually was thinking about meeting them b/c I dont work in Aug.) My friend and her DH did this but they too went out west camping for 7 weeks. What about Mertel (sp)beach?

I would LOVE to go out west! That's one of our dream trips. I just feel like we wouldn't have enough time to see all we want. I am also thinking Arizona and maybe New Mexico...

I'll have to look into Myrtle Beach...I always think of golf when I hear the name. If it is then it might not be for us...it's defintiely something to look into though...

How about flying out west (getting a cheap flight) then renting a car. You can check for deals that you pay a flat rate and not per mile. Also, you can find cheaper places to stay over night in the west then in the east!

Maybe for a day on the way home. I think with those three cities, you'd have a lot to see. And Myrtle Beach is more than just golf, definitely. Great beach, nice amusement park, restaurants, etc. It might be better in the summer, however. So ... if you skip that .. (definitely more to do in Savannah and Charleston that time of year) you could do NC. Not sure what cities though - I hear Ashland is amazing but I think it's on the other side of the state ... maybe the outer banks?? GA and Charleston will still be warm, but NC might be getting chilly in Oct.

I second the flying out west and renting a car. We did this the trip we got engaged. Flew out to Reno, drove to lake tahoe, then to Yosemite (where we got engaged), then to Napa, San Fran, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Santa Barbara then to San Diego, where we flew out. It was an AMAZING trip and awesome drive down the coast of Cali.
