Re: Any Filipina brides out there?
hi girls!i had the traditional catholic-filipino wedding with the candle, cord and veil sponsors...
we are both filipinos, so it was nice incorporating those traditions for the non-filipino guests...
i did not have time to do the money dance at the wedding, and actually decided it wasn't necessary...
any ??? about the programs, order that the ceremonies go, etc. feel free to FM. also if you do a search, there are tons of filipino websites that explain each ceremony, so you can add those in your programs if you choose to have them.
good luck!

hey girls!!both my FH and I are Filipinos
everyone's wearing barongs at the wedding and our moms will also wear the pina dresses...
we're doing the veil, coin and cord at the ceremony..
don't think we're doing the money dance..
i'm wearing an ivory lace dress and people have told me that it's very Filipino ( i didn't know that)
so FH and I will match the whole wedding!!

Re: Any Filipina brides out there?
Fellow filipina here!!! I thought I was the only one!!! Yay us!!!I'm marrying an italian so we have to incorporate some of his old world traditions as well. But we are definitely doing the veil/cord ceremony. What is the arras? Also no money dance for us either, not enough time at the reception.
No barongs for us, FH calls it the paper shirt
. My dad will wear a traditional tux too.

Re: Any Filipina brides out there?
Hi Ladies-This is not a Filipino wedding tradition but I am having my cousin (who is also my MOH) sing a Tagalog song during dinner. I am thinking that perhaps she can sing Kailangan Kita by Gary V. or one of the Filipino traditional love songs: Gaano Kita Minamahal.
Great to see that there are several of you out there!
Ingat!

arras is the coins to represent wealth....i think...
i would love to have barongs whereever people wear them...i think it adds a great filipino touch...

Hey ladies, anyone having sponsors? My mom says back home you have a bunch of sponsors for the wedding. Not really sure what they do, but mom says I should have like 10! That seems like a lot!!!

Re: Any Filipina brides out there?
yeah gotcha - and we're not doing the unity candle.plus we put a modern twist to things:
for the coin ceremony - thirteen of our friends are 'sponsors' and will bring up a coin that we picked up during our travels.
for the veil ceremony - our parents are the 'sponsors' doing this. symbolizing uniting our families...
here's more explanation of the changes...
