yeah gotcha - and we're not doing the unity candle.

plus we put a modern twist to things:

for the coin ceremony - thirteen of our friends are 'sponsors' and will bring up a coin that we picked up during our travels.

for the veil ceremony - our parents are the 'sponsors' doing this. symbolizing uniting our families...

Hi...I got married last October. I am of Philippine descent and my husband was born to Uruguayan parents that are of Armenian descent. We incorporated the veil, cord, and coin ceremonies into our Catholic mass. We also had two friends light the candles on either side of the altar. We lit a Unity Candle after the rings were exchanged and after the coin ceremony.

We had the money dance at the recpetion, but we gave it a twist by playing only dance music so everyone was on the dance floor pinning both of us with money. We also had a surprise belly dancer, my DH cousin, because its part of his culture.

We didn't do anything traditional, except that DH, who is Puerto Rican wore a Barong.

hi ladies,

i don't think we are going to incorporate any traditions yet...this is my second marriage and i did the veil and cord the first time, but we got married in a church.

my FH is not filipino-he's German/Irish, so we have to incorporate both traditions. we are also planning a vineyard ceremony and reception, so it's a bit non-traditional anyway.

are any of you having traditional filipino food at your reception?

Hi, wow, I didn't know there were so many of us!! I just did my invitations with my entire wedding party included in the wedding...I have like over 30 sponsors!

FM me so I can show you! We are doing the veil/cord/candle thing for sure....NO MONEY DANCE...I know it's our culture...but sincerely that is soo cheesy...lol ...no offense to anybody of course.

who is your band? do you have any songs to recommend? My family loves all that cha cha....electric slide stuff....thank god they aren't into that chicken dance I've seen at weddings.

30 sponsors!?!? are you kidding me, WOW i'm lucky if i have at least 4! i dont have to many relatives flying in from the philippines....

I am going CRAZY...if I didn't have a full time job....maybe all this planning and details would be fun . All my family is here in the states, but my parents are from big families!

it seems like you have quite a while to go...what stage are you up to?

I would like to have lechon @my reception. Good thing - CLM offers 'roasted suckling pig' for the cocktail hour.

My shower is going to be a 'filipiniana luncheon'. So, we are having all types of filipino food. But, we are also offering non-FIlipino food for those who are not 'adventurous' w/ our type of cuisine.

God, where have I been?! I didn't realize there were so many of us on the website. i'm a filipina and my FH is columbian/ korean- but he's totally into all the fil. traditions- coins, veil cord and candle. It's funny he thought that all weddings included those ceremonies! hehehe. We were thinking of having sponsors. Are any of you ladies having sponsors and a money dance?

Well FH is Irish Catholic....So yes we will be incorporating the cord, candel, veil and arrahe of coins....

No money dance though....and My mom wants to wear the Pina dress but my dad said that no one does that anymore so now my mom is gonna probably wear something more modern...I dont care either way but I would like her to wear it so there is more filipino traditions incorporated
