Please post any information you may have (good or bad) abouth the Chateau Briand in Carle Place. I'm planning my ceremony and reception there and I'm from New Jersey so I don't know too many people who can give me any feedback. Thanks Ladies.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Since this was bumped up I might as well ask. The Europa is the restaurant or am I wrong? How would they manage to do the cocktail hour there and also has anyone had or heard of a reception being held in the Europa? Just curious on how the set-up was.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Well, the Europa is their restaurant, but they can set it up for cocktail hour as well.
I went to Shammas wedding, and it looks FABULOUS for cocktail hour !!!! So different from the usual 'cocktail hour' setting. It was gorgeous !!!!!!!! They set up all the stations on the lower part of the restaurant and come to think of it, really all around. They had the fruit/cheese displays, I can go on and on. It was the best cocktail hour I've been too !!!!!

Cathie, I've never seen the Leonardo room split up. Did you ask to see a picture of the set-up. I'm sure it's fine, noone will be able to tell it's 1/2 from what I've seen at other places that do this. Question you should ask is what is going on at the other side? You dont want anything going on and the noise interfering w/your hour.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Thanks Liz. FH and I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant.
I have the Leonardo room and I am trying to picture in my mind how they could split the room. They will probably place something to block the back half of the room, where the doors are. So you would have the entire dance floor. Does this make sense?

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
I agree, when I've seen that done before elsewhere, it just looks like a wall to most guests, unless they've been there and already know the full size of the room. It should be fine.
BTW, I think the Europa is not good for a reception b/c there is no 'center stage' the bar is in the center. That is one of the things that make it so cool for cocktail b/c it's a like wraparound bar, so you can get a drink no matter which side of the room you're sitting in, and also, they have these cool booths you could sit it. OK, I'm going on and on, I'm jsut so excited, only 6 months left

That is exactly the way it is done. The wall comes out from the side. I have seen the full room view and the split view and it looks fine. Fret not sweetie

Shamma, I wanted to let you know that you received many compliments from the BM at the CB. I went there about 2 weeks ago and we began talking about this site. He mentioned how great you are with wedding planning. I thought to share because it was really nice.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
I was in my friends wedding there this past summer. The food was good and the cocktail hour was really beautiful-the room was unique-although the tables are kinda not arranged as a usual cocktail hour (booths and such) So it kinda discouraged mingling (sp?!) . But all around it was nice.

I too had my wedding at the chateau Briand on aug 9. We had the normandy room and did our cocktail outdoors. Everything was beautiful. I am still gettting compliments today on how great everything was. You have nothing to worry about. They have a great reputation.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Do you know how many weddings are held there at the same time? And how many people can the y accomodate for a sit-down dinner/dance? Thanks!

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Lisa, they dont have more than 2 at a time, and they space it so your guests aren't arriving together.
They can hold up to about 400 in the Leonardo room. My room Normandie holds up to 250 I think, and the Saturnia holds less, I'm not sure exactly how many, but I'd say at least 100.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
The Saturnia should hold at least 175. This is the room I have for the cocktail hour and I am having over 200 guests.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Wow. I didnt know it held that many. Is the main difference between the Normandy and Saturnia the floor then?

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Doesn't the promenade room has that wall separation that they open up for more room in the Saturnia?
Liz...I think the Normandy is much bigger than the Saturnia and its has def a bigger dance floor. Saturnia is wide but the Normany is long..am I correct? I am trying to remember.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
I think you may be right Kathy. I only saw the Saturnia once, but the Normandy is definitely longer. I thought I remembered the Saturnia for smaller weddings (under 200 ppl) Kathy, you had the Normandy right? How many guests did you have?

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
Never knew there was a promenade room. Don't know if it adjoins w/ the Saturnia but I now we have the entire Saturnia room. The Normandy does have a bigger dance floor. I am completely drawing a blank on the length or width of the rooms.

Re: Any info about Chateau Briand?
I had the Saturnia with 115 guest and I thought the room was full. I think you can fit up to 165 in the Saturnia (they say). For the cocktail hour I had the Promenade room which I now see in the video to me was a little too small for all the people that I had.
