Any input on a inexpensive wedding hall?

Deseversky

Hi! I'm having my wedding at Deseversky, so I wanted to give the info that I have.

For a sit down dinner, they can accomodate about 120 persons. If you wanted a 'mansion style' wedding, where there are buffet stations in different rooms, they are able to accomodate up to 200 people. Their price range starts at $165/pp for a Saturday and they said that they were having a new price list for 2001.

Try the Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale. I had 150 people for my wedding there. Check my posts over the past year for more info. I just did a final check on my pictures for my album last night, all taken there, and they look amazing. My photographer studies with famous photographers there one week per year. I don't think they would host the class there if there was not much to take pictures of. Everything was smooth on my wedding day and I loved not having to worry about anything. I would not go back and change anything if I could. The courtyard is a great place for a ceremony too!

That really helped. How many people did you have? Was the cocktail hour upstairs or downstairs?
We are having about 150 people - they told us that with that many people, we should only do the seafood bar and 2 stations (we are having it upstairs)

San Souci - Kat

I looked at San Souci. I liked it but it is kind of small for 150 people.

I am getting married in September at the Westbury Manor and am still wondering as to who should do my hair and makeup. The one glitch is that I don't have much time since I have a 11 a.m. ceremony and I need to have everything done by 9 a.m. before the photographer arrives at my house. Can you tell me where you got your hair done and how much it cost and if you know if he/she is willing to come to the house or whether you have to go to the salon.

paying for wedding myself too

We are also paying for our wedding which is summer of 2002. I started planning Aug of 2000. I wanted to get the best prices that I could afford, without being pressured for time.

Wanna switch? LOL

All that I can say is Eeekk! I don't think that will happen!! lol, how do I wish, but 180 is just not able to be done on my end! Hahaha, I should say Buffalo's economy stinks! Wow, if only I could drop out of college and get a second job (both of us could do that then...) Thanks...

I am curious how much you set aside a week??? I am trying to plan for our own wedding (we are paying) and trying to figure out if around 10K is doable by next June 2002???!! I would atleast like to pay a majority of cash! My only problem is that I work full-time and I attend college full-time so there isn't room just yet for a second job! lol!!!

Thanks,

Deseversky *NM*

I had met with 2 different band companies for my wedding. We had discussed with both of them what would happen if I cancelled or postponed the wedding. They both said that they keep the deposit as a credit for a future date.

There is a place (who's name escapes me right now, of course!) that is part of a culinary institute, that I've heard is both beautiful AND reasonable, with an estate-like feel. I looked into it for my wedding, but they couldn't accommodate my guest list. I think 150 is doable for them. It's called something with a D, and it's driving me nuts that I can't think of it!! It sounds like it might be just what you're looking for. Can anyone help me remember??
