ANY nurses, doctors or anybody who works in a hospital
Original post by Espo22
ok i dont know how normal this is and how long it usually takes. But my dad is still in the hospital, yesterday they did a heart test and he has 2 arteries blocked so they told him yesterday that they will transfer him to Lennox hill hospital in the city. They are transferring him to this hospital because they specialize in the heart and are very good. He will either get the balloon which they think most likely, or bypass. When he gets to lennox hill they'll figure it out more. BUT since last night around 5pm they told my dad that lennox hill is sending over an ambulance to get him. UHMMMMM i just called my dad before bc i was going to go after work to lennox hill but they STILL haven't transferred him. When i spoke to him he got off the phone quickly bc the nurse was calling lennox hill at that moment to find out W** is going on.
Now i guess it depends on availability of the ambulance and probably is hard with the fact that they have to go from manhattan to queens to get him and then back but still its been almost 24 hours.
I just told fh a few mins ago and he couldn't believe, and even said he'll drive him if its possible. Would they even allow that? or does the ambulance have to bring him? and is it normal to wait this D*mn long, its getting frustrating.

Denise, I was thinking about you last night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they move your Dad ASAP and he is feeling better very soon.

I hope they move your dad soon. there is nothing worse than the waiting game when someone close to you needs medical assistance.
i just hope that maybe they moved his this morning. I leave my house early so if he called i wouldn't know. I feel bad to even call now to ask bc i am sure it makes it worse to have ppl keep calling to ask if hes been moved.
thank you
just read this....interfacility transport is not easy. There is a lot of work involved between both hospitals, accepting physicians, having a room, insurance, ambulance, tests, charts, etc. I am a nurse, and it is something that DOES take a while, and i've noticed it's a little more lengthy when you are dealing with someone in a higher level of care (i.e., your dad is a cardiac patient, therefore needs a monitored bed, etc). All I can tell you is to be patient, rest assured that they are working on it (even if it doesn't seem that way), and if you ARE planning on calling, ask them to put a note on the front of the chart to notify you when he leaves the building. He can even call you as long as he has phone service, as soon as the transporters get there. for a speedy recovery

my dad has his cell phone in the hospital hahaha, so i call that. He'll usually walk around and if he misses my call will at least call back.
Thank you

Re: ANY nurses, doctors or anybody who works in a hospital
hey sorry to hear about your dad. i just wamted to let you know that lenox hill is a GREAT hospital for cariac care. thats actually where pope john paul II had his cardiac surgery done, also my great grandmother and a good family friend had heart surgery there the care was exceptional.. my dad used to manage the EMS dept there and the wait for transport is not unusual as other posters have said there are allot of things that need to be in place before the transport takes place, certainly a bed, all the paperwork and unfortunately insurance clearance. when he does get there and i hope you doint have to wait much longer, he will be in great hands. i hope is well soon.
