ANY nurses, doctors or anybody who works in a hospital
Original post by Espo22
ok i dont know how normal this is and how long it usually takes. But my dad is still in the hospital, yesterday they did a heart test and he has 2 arteries blocked so they told him yesterday that they will transfer him to Lennox hill hospital in the city. They are transferring him to this hospital because they specialize in the heart and are very good. He will either get the balloon which they think most likely, or bypass. When he gets to lennox hill they'll figure it out more. BUT since last night around 5pm they told my dad that lennox hill is sending over an ambulance to get him. UHMMMMM i just called my dad before bc i was going to go after work to lennox hill but they STILL haven't transferred him. When i spoke to him he got off the phone quickly bc the nurse was calling lennox hill at that moment to find out W** is going on.
Now i guess it depends on availability of the ambulance and probably is hard with the fact that they have to go from manhattan to queens to get him and then back but still its been almost 24 hours.
I just told fh a few mins ago and he couldn't believe, and even said he'll drive him if its possible. Would they even allow that? or does the ambulance have to bring him? and is it normal to wait this D*mn long, its getting frustrating.

unfortunately ... it takes forever
at mercy, my dad waited 36 hours to be transferred to north shore, he passed away during transport .... if they had moved him / taken proper precautions immediately, he might still be here
also, he had to wait in the cardiac ER for 48 hours before he got a bed in the regular cardiac unit ... it takes a long time
Karin, I'm so sorry about your Dad.
Denise, I was just wondering this morning if you had given an update on your Dad and I just missed it, I haven't been on much. We will pray for him. Hope everything goes smoothly from here. Please keep us updated.

WELL a great staff is a plus. Most were nice where he is now but oh god one new lady yesterday came in screaming at him, took his blood and didnt bandage it or clean it up and he was dripping and she walked out yelling...my mom went out after her and cursed her out, now for my mom to do it, its a big deal. The supervisor came in after and said not to listen to her and theyre going to talk to her

Denise, I feel like hospitals always are so slow because of all the paperwork and procedures, but hopefully he will get transfered soon. Keep us posted and tell him our thoughts and prayers are with him!!

well hes in a hospital in queens and has been in the room since last sunday night so about 9 days now. He is fine now, and is walking around and all. Just that he is going to need the surgery soon since he has 2 arteries blocked, but its not a situation where he needs it done within the next few hours. I guess its more the frustration about it.
i hope he's doing ok! sounds like he's gonna have a CABG (double coronary artery bypass graft). They usually take a vein from one of the patient's legs, or one from the chest/arm. Just know that it's a common (but still serious) surgery. I work in vascular medicine and see patients on a daily basis as prep for this surgery. Which hosp in queens is he in!? IM THINKING ABOUT YOU AND YOUR DAD!

I am actually a cardiovascular technologist (I work at St. Francis Hospital and Long Beach) so what that means is i do Echogardigrams of the heart! Your dad will be fine. People go throught these type's of things everyday! The balloon will be better b/c it's not open heart surgery but their is a slight chance the plaque could built back up and clog the artery again. I'am sure there going to do the best thing for him! If you have anymore question let me know!

I honestly have no idea. I know by being a social worker and dealing with hospital discharge planning it can take a long time but I just wanted to say that I hope everything is ok and he is able to go home real soon.

Yeah fh's uncle was explaining the procedure to me and mentioned it was from his arm when they did it to him. Didn't know the name of it, thank you very much. Yeah i mean in a way he should be glad he fainted last week otherwise he would've continued with the same lifestyle, now he is able to take care of everything and after to keep a much better lifestyle. Thank you so much

yeah they seem to be really taking their time and doing tons of tests and making sure they don't miss anything. I mean its annoying waiting for them to transport him but in the grand scheme of things thats not a big deal. Other than that they've been great and very happy with how they've handled things. Thank you so very much, i might have questions at another time thanks for offering
